Has anyone tried juicing? A friend has been juicing most of her meals and has seen great results not just in weightloss, but her hearing problems as well.

I'm curious as to any benefits with SjS, Fibro and everything?

Funny you should post this...I have been thinking about trying this the last couple of days! I'll be watching for others to respond.

I would not be afraid of doing the "juicing" once or twice a day, but I'd want to make sure it was balanced vitamin wise etc.  Then you'd (or I'd) have to see about getting the "runs" from all that fruit.

There must be someone on here who has tried juicing-we have such a variety of folks.  Maybe some will come forward with their experience.  Lucy

I do! I think it helps with fatigue and dryness.

I used to a lot more. Now that I'm back to work I wish I had more time. I did not use it to replace meals but to give myself more nutrition.

I bought organic veggies in bulk at Whole Foods. It was expensive but it depends on what type of veggies/fruit you use. You don't get a lot of juice from a carrot, apple, and beet.

I did see positive results in my health. Good luck, there are tons of websites on juicing!

Juicing can be messy. I purchase organic carrot juice that has good flavor at Costco. Bothouse is the juice I prefer. Most of the others do not taste as fresh to me.

When I was juicing I would purchase 50 pounds of carrots, wash them and prepare them for juicing. I would fill quart jars and pass a few quarts on to other members of my Chronic Pain support group. One quart was usually enough to get a little high. The 50 pound bag took 1/2 day for two people to Juice and cost about the same as a couple of 2.5 pound bags.

There are many good books on Juicing and I have notes in my book on juice therapies. Carrot juice provides what your body needs to create endorphins. It can really reduce your pain levels.

I drink veggie juices a lot.  It's a great way to add more nutrition to the diet.  I haven't ever used juices to replace foods as the fiber is missing from the good foods used in the juices.  My go-to green drink is celery, carrots, parsley, ginger, apples, lemons, and kale.

I also drink green smoothies - fruits and veggies whipped up in a high-speed blender - that way you get all the fiber.  I've found that a green smoothie a day really helps with healing.  It's good for weightloss as well as you get filled up with good stuff.  My everyday smoothie is frozen organic cherries (costco), spinach, and kale.  Other add-ins are bananas, chia seeds, apples.  And beets are very good too, but do change the color!

Terry Wahls has a great TedX talk on using fruits and veggies in healing autoimmune diseases.  It's at YouTube; search for TEDxIowaCity Terry Wahls.

Be careful using spinach, kale and soy if you have Hashimotos. Those foods interfere with the body's ability to utilize thyroid meds.

Be careful if you have diabetes or hypoglycemia. Juicing can cause blood sugar spikes, depending on your ingredients.

Juicing increases my sense of well being & decreases dryness. Sometimes I am too lazy=fatigued=unorganized to gather the ingredients. LouLou, thanks for your post - & all others - it is getting me 'on it' again. I have a high-speed blender, so no more excuses.
