Hey folks,
Well, I'm allowed to start adding fruit back into diet now, but not added sugar.  It is a start!  I've waited so long for this day, but now I"m scared to try it.  Dr. said to start with blueberries.  I bought some, and they sit in the fridge. Maybe tomorrow.
Anyway...I've always had low bp.  I know that people take meds to lower their bp, but are there meds to increase it?  Stupid question isn't it!!  Don't laugh (people like Linda and those with more medical knowledge than I"ll ever have ;)
I just figure if they can lower it, they may be able to increase it??

I have low blood pressure too. It often sits around 70/50 but has been 60/45. I faint and get dizzy in the shower and when I stand up too quickly.

I asked my doctor what I could do and she said that there are medications, but she wouldn't recommend them. She said to add more salt to my diet, although that doesn't help either.

Matilda- If your bp is that low & your doctor is not supportive of trying Florinef I would switch doctors. I was on it a short while & it helped. Now I am able to keep mine around 88/55 without it.

I'm not trying to be negative about your doctor (well maybe I am) but we all know that's way too low & you will hurt yourself passing out. I did many times. I use a shower chair still to prevent falls.

Good luck my low bp friends- it's a battle!

I have also had low bp issues for years! Failed tilt table testing. I was put on Celexa and have not passed out in years.

Drink fluids!! AND add the sea salt.

Also, licorice root will raise BP.

mine averages 90/60.. but has been lower.. i get that dzzy feeling when standing or sitting up suddenly too.
i have been using sea salt and reg salt helps a lot too..

Avoid "regular" salt on anything. It's bad for us. I buy Real Salt. It's full of minerals. You can also buy Himalayan salt.

thanks everyone!!  Maybe that is why I crave salty foods? Interesting!

Yup, I get this problem during/after my period - 80/55 or so. Now I try to preempt it with salty foods and lots of water. I haven't measured consistently but I have felt better when I do this.

Be careful about just accepting low blood pressure, not only can you be hurt from passing out, but lack of oxygen to vital organs can cause organ damage (brain, kidneys etc...).  drink fluids, high salt diet and meds if necessary.

I have always had low blood pressure and it is normal for me.

I do make sure I tell any drs or nurses though. I found out I had normal low blood pressure when a nurse at one of those clinic things in the pharmacy freaked me out by telling me to go to my dr ASAP and wouldn't tell me why.  :o :P      It may be just normal for you too.
