This is my first post ever on here.  With winter here the dryness is back, big time and I'd like to get some ideas of lotions and lip balms that seem to work best for all.  I'm also very interested in some of the vitamins that I've seen written about on here so I may just have to get me some of those too.  Second winter as a sjoggie and am not enjoying it much.  Winter was never my favorite season so now is another reason to look forward to spring!  ;)

I am using shea butter shower cleanser and sheabutter motion on my body and my skin is staying silky soft. I use amlactin twice daily on my hands to keep my fingers from splitting and cracking. On my lips I use neosporin night lip cream at bedtime and neutrogena lip balm during day time.

I use Aquaphor on my lips as the most comfortable product I have found.  I use a tinted lip glass without wax in it most days at work but the Aquaphor feels the best and is what I use at night.

I used some on my hands today as I couldn't find my usual.  I don't need a lot of help with my hands and the Aquarphor was a bit heavy and greasy but my hands felt great after.

I'm finding a lot of relief on my face by using a thin coat of vaseline after washing my face morning and night.  If you use it when your face is still damp, it only takes a little bit to cover.  Heavier on the lips at night.

For some reason, the only lip stuff I get help from is the Blistex medicated.

I also try to avoid having the defrost on my windshield as much as humanly possible.  That heat hitting my face is awful for it.

You're speaking of the vaseline gel, right?  I've never put that directly on anything before.  I've only used the intensive lotion in the past.  That's easy and cheap too!  Thanks

Welcome Connie from the other Connie,

As suggested by others on this site I use olive oil on my face at night.  After washing with mild soap I put a couple of drops of olive oil (yes, regular olive oil that you cook with) in my hand and rub them together to warm up the oil a bit and pat it on my face.  Does the trick for me.

For my lips I used medicated Blistex as well

For my hands I use either Coco butter or Blue Goo also suggested on this site and found at Walmart in a
small blue tin. It's thicker and smells like Papaya, close your eyes and think of Hawaii  ;)

Lisa Marie, I use Vaseline too but it's a non-petroleum kind that I splurged on at our local foods co-op.  Even then it is a huge squeeze tube and was $5.00       nothing soothes quite like the ole Vaseline!

Also, this may not appeal to some of you but I use Super Glue on my splitting fingertips...right at the corners where the nail meets skin....they get so sore I can hardly stand it in the wintertime.  I use the tiniest drop coming out of the tube...it takes forever to dry but lasts a few days...through the dish washing, etc .... it's a tough protectant!

Hi Connie - welcome!

You asked about lotions and lip balm - here's a few posts from a while back that might give you some insight into some of the different products we Sjoggies use:

As with anything, it's all a personal preference as to the specific products we use - some we like, some we don't.   ;)  For me, I've very sensitive to fragrant smells, so anything flowery or "stinky" bothers me - so I steer clear from those products.

I hope you find this site helpful to you on your Sjogren's journey.

Yup.  Regular ole vaseline!  I have done the olive oil route too.  And it works for most of the year.  But I found that it wasn't quite working well enough in the winter air.  The vaseline has done wonders the past few weeks.
