Generic Evoxac- not working for me

Ok so when I took regular evoxac I had to dump partial of the capsule out it worked so well. I have been on generic for a few weeks and I'm taking full capsule, still drier than 2/3 of evoxac.

I do (STILL) have a cold so I'm a little drier than usual but I have to say that overall I'm not impressed. I think I will ask my doctor to write "dispense as written" and pay the extra $15 for regular evoxac (insurance).

Maybe it is just me, I take generic plaquenil just fine!

But then again, I cannot take generic synthroid!

Anyone else having this issue? It is not a big deal since my doc. will call in new prescription & it isn't too much money difference but I was curious if others had the same reaction.

I find that generic anything does not work, or as well. I dont care what anyone tells me..they usually have some different fillers, etc.
Im not surprised? I dont take evoxac though, so not sure..If you can pay a bit more, than I guess I would go for the name brand?

I am dreading they will swap me to the generic, and I never had good luck with generics.

recently i swtiched to generic evoxac and also singulair.... singulair not working as well and also got the drowsy effect and have to take at night- for yrs took singulair in the am and never had that sleepiness....

synthroid is a med my endo says NEVER EVER do generic on... he explained it but over my head...

now as far as the evoxac... giv it more time b/c one thing i have noticed over the years is i go thru dry spells even on the  name brand. last year this time i had a horrible time... it was bad... i take seabuckthorn oil and that really really helps... try supplementing with 1000-2000mg of the seabuckthron oil- that may get u thru and u can keep the generic....

hope this helps

I know sometimes insurance will approve if you get a doctors note stating that the generic version does not work for you..they also might want you to try another manufacturer if there is one. You might have a higher co-pay, but sometimes, we have no choice..its a shame we have to go through all this.

I would wait until your illness has passed and then reevaluate. I personally am much drier when I'm sick.

Typically, generic = brand in all the ways that matter, but anything is possible.

Engy,
During my recent cold, I was a lot drier than usual, and I'm still taking brand name Evoxac.  As Styx suggested, wait until you are back to normal otherwise, and it may work for you.   I hope it does!  Get well soon!

Thanks all, just about over my cold. I'm definitely going to finish the prescription & give it a chance before going back to Evoxac.

I'm not as dry as I was so I'm hoping I can keep the cheap generic but definitely still missing the effectiveness of Evoxac.

Its hard to tell isnt it? allergies/cold and flares and infections make me so much more dryer. This colder weather drying the heck out of me...especially the sinuses..I forgot how bad they tend to get in the winter?? yucky..

I started taking the generic today and I have noticed that I have medicine burps for a short time after taking it.  I did not notice this with the brand name Evoxac.  The generic pills are much smaller.
