I am thinking about getting dad and I Kindle Paperwhites for Christmas.  Does anyone have one already?  And, if so do you like or dislike it.

I have a first generation Kindle and my main complaint with it was that the fonts were too light for me to read without a light.

I have the Kindle Keyboard 3G and I love it. I have the case with the built-in light and I think it's saved my marriage!   ;)

I bought my husband the Kindle Fire for his birthday, but we don't have wi-fi at home --- I assumed that since my older Kindle had built-in wi-fi so would the Fire, but I was wrong --- so he doesn't really like it as much as I like mine.

I don't know anybody with the paperwhite, but I would imagine it's just as great as all the others.

I hope the paper white is as great as the original. I've been thinking of upgrading for the ease with night reading--book lights just don't light up the whole screen for me.
Love my kindle and can't wait to hear the reviews

For your dad; it depends on his age, willingness to use it and the keyboard letter/number size.
My mother couldn't stand the tiny-ness of it and wouldn't use it.

I think if you could just have him do the simple stuff for awhile, it would help A Lot.

I ordered 1 Kindle Paperwhite today.  Had to do it now in order for it to get here by Christmas.  I got free two day shipping and it should arrived on Christmas Eve.  Would like to have it all set up, charged and books downloaded before I wrap it.  So, it will be ready to use when he opens it Christmas morning.

I agree, Pisces with what you wrote, dad is 74 yrs. old.  He has a long learning curve on electronics.  Don't think he will be interested in surfing the Internet, just reading books.  He complains about the heaviness of books in his hands while reading so I think he will like it.  He expressed an interest in trying out one earlier in the year.  I figure if he doesn't like it, I can have a free gift for myself. LOL!

Cdbhappy, here is a link to two reviews:
