Oral and nasal ulcers? (cankers)

I've had oral and nasal ulcers for many years and there has NEVER been a doctor who can give me any relief. I've shown them to physicians, surgeons, dentists and oral surgeons. Every one of them says there's nothing to be done.

Enter Sjogrens World Forums and my good friends on this board.

Mary's Magic Mouthwash. This is something I read about on this board and told my dentist about this past Tuesday at my regular six-month appointment. Even though I have asked him time and time again what can be done and he has always said NOTHING, when I mentioned Magic Mouthwash and described it, he said, "Oh yes, I have a couple of recipes for that." WHAT??? For six years you tell me there's nothing out there that can help me live with almost constant mouth ulcers, and now suddenly you have a couple of recipes for something that has the word MAGIC in it?

Now I read a post by Navigator that has another medication: Triamcinolone paste. I Googled that one and HOLY COW!

Why is pain ignored so thoroughly by these people?

I'm really at a loss for words.

Magic mouthwash has saved my mouth and throat many times.  If you get the prescription kind, it has Lidocaine in it which is great.  Other make at home recipes usually involve liquid Benadryl and either Mylanta or Kaopectate liquids.

My dermatologist prescribed Triamcinolone for years for nasal ulcers and sores on my lips, but she warned me to use it for no more than three days or the tissues will become too thin and there is a chance of infection.

Nope -- under my tongue, on the edges of my tongue, along the gumline where my cheek and gums meet, that little crease. Sometimes I'll get one on the top of my tongue, but not often.  I almost always have at least one, and often have three or four.

They appear to be made worse with stress --- for instance, I was asked to give the eulogy at my grandmother's funeral a few years before being diagnosed.  I had five ulcers, three on the edge of my tongue which made it almost impossible to talk.

Did any doctor or dentist mention that there was something that could help? No!

The magic mouthwash is, for me, real magic!

I suffered for over forty years with terrible canker sores -mostly on lips and gums. Had to limit my acidic foods for 7-10 days at a time and had one or two per month. They happened around my periods too.

Four years ago went gluten-free for other reasons and no major sores since then. I had asked dentists in 5 cities for help and no one made the connection. I also had terrible cracks and scabs inside my nose from October to April each year - also gone, even though I am dryer now that when I went gluten-free. Just a thought. They are painful and sometimes people thought I'd been punched in the face and had a fat lip!

Really sometimes drs make me so mad! I had some ulcers when I had that terrible flare and OM*G (scuse me) they hurt so much.  For me Dequadin Lozenges took care of them somehow (maybe it was a fungus) but I was so relieved. I literally winced with each pathetic bite I tried to eat.

And now that I think of it, the nasal ulcer I had went away with the Nasogel and/or Plaquinel.  Or the saline rinses... 

My eye dr was talking about restasis to me, saying it was my choice, I was "on the fence" for needing it. Well, buddy, with it I have perfectly moist and healthy eyes. without it, they are dry, they burn, etc etc. I explained to him it is all the "little things" with Sjogren's that makes it so hard to thrive with it because little by little, they just seem to bring you down.
