Well, for ever and ever people have hoped that diet would cure just about any and everything.

Assuming that you live in a society with enough resources and money to BUY different foods, it's always worth a try I guess.

But I think the food thing is far overrated.  For several reasons.

1)  You CAN control food, so it is wonderful to think that by controlling food you will improve your health.

2)  There is always a new theory, plan, supplement, whatever that gets a lot of publicity.

3)  There ARE genuine food allergies, and illnesses that are triggered by specific substances in foods, so it seems possible that changing YOUR food will help you.

4)  In the past 50 years, our diet has changed dramatically, as we've moved away from farms, foods from all over the world are available year round, food in the USA is cheap compared to any other country in the world due to heavily subsidized farm products, and there are so many processed foods that we can and do eat.

5.  Diet restrictions, prescriptions and proscriptions have been and are part of many many religions.

6.  We all CARE A LOT about food!

However, most of us are not allergic to, sensitive to, or otherwise made ill by WHAT we eat.  Most people eat too much, and many processed foods are 'designed' to make you keep eating.   I find that Crystal Lite for example, actually makes me feel thirsty!
Food designers are instructed to make a product that doesn't satisfy you until you've eaten quite a few of whatever the product is.

The current fad for low carbs produces quick weight loss because it is HARD on your kidneys and causes you to lose more fluid weight more quickly, which is confused with actual weight loss.  In addition, consuming fewer carbs may help some people to eat less, since carbs can be an eating trigger for many people.  More emotional and psychological than physical, but you end up eating more!

Here is a link to the article about low carb weight loss:

We are omnivores by nature.

If you think you have an allergy and sensitivity, have a certified allergist immunologist test you.

If you think a specific food plan will help you, ask your doctor to look at it first.

Most of us can't eat too crazily for too long, our bodies won't stand for it.

Keep us all posted on how you're doing.

I've lost 26 pounds in the past 3.5 months, eating three moderate meals a day, and registering what I eat at LoseIt.com which is free and which will help you calculate calories and credit your for exercise done, as well.

Being aware of what I'm eating, making choices, and stopping when I've reached my calorie maximum for the day is helping me.

So....a couple of questions here...what did they eat for eat for dinner?

Did they offer  to join you in this diet for support?  Even one of them??

What type of restaurant did they take you to for this intervention??

food...such a sticky subject....too much for me tonight..But I do know friends!

Yours may have thought they could or would help you, but it also sounds like they miss the old you and just want you to get over the problem and get rid of this silly old cold/flu/whatever....
They should care enough to look into what you have.. I bet they did no research on it or of if it is working for her...they just read the word  Sjogrens...diet...and what a brilliant idea , now you just do it and get on, so we can all go back to what it used to be like...

she lost today also...But I have Sjogrens too and I would have lost.. All Atheletes loose and win...so if she is off her game, it could be just that or it could be her diet isn't working for her.  It could be an excuse or a legitimate reason..

regardless........ you were disrespected and that should not have happened..not the sharpest tools in the rack are  they?

Has anyone of them tried to get back in touch with you.....Unbelievable!    ~sass~
