Hi all, my anxiety has been horrible and severe pms which makes me worse and I just cry and was convinced it was depression but it always passes when my period does, but either way it needed sorting.

In the past I tried two ssri drugs but had horrible side effects, but I have decide to try zoloft after my doctor suggested it.

I have been taking it for 2 weeks, I increased the dose after the first week. With each dose I seemed to have increase in anxiety level and am not sleeping as good as normal but no other side effects. The side effects have been much gentler than the last ssri, so I am pleased I am tolerating it, I just hope it does me some good

Hi!
I am on the generic for Zoloft since May.  I don't have any side effects now but for the first month, my stomach was having difficulty adjusting.  My thoughts are better and I am not constantly worrying what may happen to me and the daily crying to work has stopped.  Bad thing is, that my PCP said he will ween me off of it in November and told me I need to come to terms with having a chronic illness.  I guess the longer you are on it, the worse the side effects there are of coming off of it.  :(

Hi Winnie, my doctor has also mentioned coming off it after 6 months. Even though I seem to have increased anxiety in last few days since dose increase its more physical symptoms of anxiety, the worrying I normally do seems to have lessened. I gonna see if it helps and maybe ask to stay on it at least a year.

Maybe you don't need an increase?  I started on 25mg.  It is working and has never been increased.

I did a week on 25mg, and now on 50mg will prob stay on 50 mg, I am hoping this will help a lot with the anxiety I hate waking up feeling panicky. Its early days so am hoping side effects will be less and less

I know a gal who went through the same thing and your gyne put her on a 10 day regime every month. She was put on prosac and took it about 4 days before her period and another 6 days after. This helped her get through this terrible time and made life easier on her hubby also. Good luck Irish

Thanks Irish,

I am thankful I am tolerating this drug, though it has reduced my appetite, will be glad when it comes back as I normally enjoy my food. I was once offered a ssri to take 2weeks on and 2 weeks off, but I would sooner just take it all month especially as my cycles can be irregular. I am hoping for a big improvement I have heard good reviews about zoloft
