Yesterday, I was putting make up on and noticed that my eye lids were swollen. Today they are more swollen can it be blepharitis? I was reading that some of the members have this condition. Do I have to go to the doctor? How do you treat it? Do you have frequent flares. I guess this is another thing that I have to add to the list

Hi Cindy,
I have allergies so my lids are often swollen in the morning or when I go into an allergy attack.
I find my lids and my eyes feel better by doing nighttime lid scrubs or warm water with baby shampoo on a washcloth, then rinse.

If you are worried about blepharitis then you should go see an Ophthalmologist.  In simple terms it's like lid dandruff however, it can be a chronic condition that needs attention by an MD. :)

I have it. My eye dr says it's because of my dry eyes.  Since being on the Restasis it has taken the discomfort down a notch but I still have episodes of it.
Warm compresses help but that's about it. :/

Hi Cindy,

Usually when I have a blepharitis infection, my eyes are really red, sore and are kind of crusty. My eyelids do get swollen if I rub them. I have to see my eye dr. for antibiotics to get rid of it.

The first time he diagnosed this for me, he told me to pick up small round sterile cleansing pads and a gentle cleanser to clean
the flakiness around my eyes in the am and pm.  It helps to prevent the infection from returning.

I have allergies too and my eyelids occasionally puff up and get sore. I take an antihistamine pill and cold compresses for my eyes.

Always better to call your eye dr's office and have it checked out if it is bothering you more than a day.
