We went out fishing in the Delaware River this morning.  The weather was cool and warmed up as the day went by.  Didn't catch anything- tried in 3 different areas;  but had a great time with husband, 2 sons and 4 yr. old grandson.

We tried again in the smaller river on the way back to the marina.  And guess what---yup--the youngest brought in the first fish!  A 5 inch flounder!  He was so proud of himself! Then his dad gave him another reel and he brought in  12 inch striper! Of course we couldn't keep them; but the thrill was still there.

The only thing I caught was a sore face!  Have sunburn on cheeks, nose and chin.  Darn reflective sun!  Yes, I used 100% sunblock, had my broad rimmed hat on and long sleeved sweatshirt; even pulled the hood up and around my face in those early morning hours.

Sounds like you had a fun day with family.   ;D

Hope you had a camera along to get pictures of the youngest and his "catches".

Sorry you got a sore face out of the adventure . . . sounds like you did everything you could to protect yourself.  Yeah, reflecting water is a tough one!   8)

Now I feel guilty as my hubby has been after me to go out fishing with him.  I'll have to see what I can muster up on a weekday when the waters aren't so busy.

His dad has his camera phone.
And I wasn't the only one with sun burn--all the guys had some --both sons complained about their eyes hurting.  One couldn't find his sunglasses on the boat where he thought they were.  I loaned him mine for about an hour.  Now don't get upset--my regular glasses have transition lenses- so I was ok for a while.  He thought my Eagle Eyes were pretty cool glasses.  I think they will both look for new sunglasses.
My face is much better today.  I coated it pretty good last night with aloe vera.

I'm glad you got out on the water and had a great time, quilt4fun!  Except for that sunburn; good it's feeling better by now.  It's so nice to go do something different, isn't it?  This was the 4-yr.-old who caught the fish? How cool for him!

My husband loves to golf and goes with a couple of friends about twice a week. He's always said it was his "guy time" and I'm ok with that.  Just today he asked if would go with him occasionally, even if it's just ride in the cart.  I might take him up on it if it's only 9 holes and not a horribly hot day. :)

As a kid I didn't have a fishpole. So when me and my dad when fishing, he made me one out of a thick stick, fishline, hook and bobber.

Would you believe I always caught more fish than he did?  ;D ;)  Good Times!

Those are special memories, Pisces.  ;D :D

Nope, don't need a special storebought pole.  Good for you and all the fish you caught!
