Hi everyone,

I am considering apply for the DLA as I am continuing to stuggle. do not know what information they base thier decisions upon.

Would love some input into what information I need to provide to prove my case.

I am taking all my meds and feeling no better, infact I would say I feel a bit worse since being diagnosed in March, I have a nagging pain under my right rib, that the dr is treating for a water infection, but sending me for a scan also. My fatigue seems so much worse lately, my pains in my hand and wrist and elbow mean I stuggle with opening cans and jars, and lifing anythin heavier than a cup of tea.

I am very forgetful also, I cannot concentrate on anything for longer than 30 mins, and find myself  drifting off in mid conversation.  Reading a book is out of the question, concentration and being unable to hold a book for long.

I do not feel  comfortable eating or taking a bath in the house alone, as i worry about choking or falling an being uable to help myself. If on my own I dont bother with eating anything other than something soft in a sandwich, i.e egg mayo. and I just have a wash.

I will not walk to far as my knees and ankles and lower back hurt.  my feet can just go dead also and can give out on me .  I also prefer to have somone with me just to be sure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mish xx

They base it on your ability to work whether standing or sitting, and also on how well you can take care of your self as in living needs.

Hello Mishmine:

Is this is the Disability Living Allowance that is available in the U.K. that you are referring to?

Mishmine:

Below is a great link for helping to fill in the DLA application form.  The Disability Law Service wrote up these tips for how to fill in the form and if you haven't come across this pdf factsheet yet, I think the info contained therein might be very helpful to you.

http://www.dls.org.uk/advice/factsheet/welfare_benefits/filling_in_DLA_forms/Filling%20in%20DLA%20forms%20Factsheet.pdf

Also the below fact sheet explains alot more about the DLA and who qualifies at which level, which may answer your questions about whether you wish to apply or not.

Best of luck,
