So I went to bed nice and early last night in order to get up nice ad early in order to get to the doctors this morning but guess what?  THEY WERE SHUT.  SODDING BANK HOLIDAYS.  I was really mad as I don't see why I should be prevented from seeing a doctor just because o an old Christian tradition.  It makes me mad.  I am still not feeling well and need to see a do.  When Is spoke to the receptionists earlier in the week they said my folate levels were high and could indicate a problem and could I come back in 2 months to get ore blood tests.  BUT I FEEL TERRIBLY ILL RIGHT NOW, VERY VERY ILL INDEED.  I can't do anything or make plans or go anywhere until I get whatever is wrong with me sorted.  Don't even really know what high folate levels mean.  Does it mean possibly that because of having an AI disease my gut is unable to absorb b12?  I have looked up pernicious anemia nd the description fits me to a T, the symptoms are exactly hat I am prancing.  Anyone have any idea?  Ia m going to have to wait now until Tuesday to see a doctor I am so mad about this.  Most people in the country are not Christian so why penalise the rest of us.  What is mmore I am worried I will be denied treatment simply because they want tosee hwo it goes in 2 months.  I can't hold on that long I feel more ill every week.  The other day I almost passed out.

Dial NHS Direct  0845 46 47 and ask for an appointment. There are doctors available 24 hours a day. And if you are feeling so ill, it doesn't matter whether it is your own doctor or not.

Good luck

Well at the moment I feel I can hang on although I did get very short of breath earlier and so lay down and fell asleep for 2 hours.  Even now still feel tired. Will make sure I get to the docs on Tuesday.  My vision in my left eye is getting rather blurred too and am concerned it is all connected.

Anybody else got experience of pernicious anemia?

I'm sorry to hear that you're not doing well and I sure hope that you can see the doctor soon (I don't have it either)...  I'll keep the old fingers crossed that you get help soon.

Hang in there and don't forget to keep us updated, okay?

I had pernicious anemia...... I say "had" because now I give myself B12 shots.

I dont absorb B12 from food or pills. The shots make a huge difference in my illness level.

You can not over dose on B12 the way you can on some of the other B vitamins. You might want to tell your doctor that you want to try a B 12 shot. It cant hurt. One of my Doc's said it would be a waste of time and that I wold just have "fancy pee". He is sooooo wrong I feel so much better now.
I had all the symptoms you are talking about.

What country are you in? I am Canadian. I was very frustrated yesterday that things were closed got Good Friday!   - Pie

Hi both, thanks and I will keep you updated.  Just one more day now before I can get to the docs.  At the moment I am not feeling emergency level ill just very very tired and out of breath.  I get out of breath even reaching for my pills from the cabinet and feel faint but luckily my kitchen is small so I can grab on to something if I feel funny.

Could maybe suggest I try a B12 shot especially if I explain  how ill I have been feeling.  I live in the UK Pie.

I can't speak of B-12 shots, but I'm very interested in what your doctor says about your current symptoms.

Please keep us updated, okay?

Take care and hang in there....
