I've been watching his health status in the news. He has had some kidney failure issues and people in good health don't usually have these. People of Afroamerican descent usually have higher incidence of lupus for some reasons. I have always wondered why they were more predisposed than caucasions. I wonder if there is a genetic component involved in this. Irish

More and more people hopefully will begin to see what these diseases can do to a person no matter who you are are what you were doing.

Mine and my husband's own previous psychiatrist sadly had to close her own practice permanently, because of her Lupus.

She gave us the best treatment, and it wasn't that long after she was diagnosed that she already was telling us she didn't know how long she could continue, but had planned to work another 20 years.

I just know that she found out she had lupus when she thought she was having a heart attack and was taken to the hospital, and after many tests they said the pain was from pericarditis (inflammation of the heart lining), due to her having lupus.

She said she was told she had to quit and take total care of herself eliminating as much stress as possible.

I had a really hard time getting mine and my husband's records from her lol.... She had them with her, because private practice and I guess wasn't accountable to anyone else, so we finally found a number to call her long distance, and she would say, I have to avoid all stress.

I said, I really do understand that, but we have to have our records for other doctors, so she finally sent  them. Bless her heart.
