Yes, I have taken it for a while.  Of course it has dependency warnings.  You should ask to try the lowest dose (5mg) first.  That may be all you need.  There is also a 6mg Ambien CR.  It helps to not only fall asleep, but stay asleep.  The regular Ambien just helps to fall asleep.

I need to add that Ambien is much better then Lunesta.  That stuff leaves an awful metal taste in your mouth...Ambien does not.

I had taken ambien (CR) and I was one of the lucky people who had the amnesia side effect. Anything that took place once I fell asleep I couldn't remember and yes that includes sex.... Poor hubby lol I would take it again, just I'd be aware of that side effect that can happen. I don't know how common it is though.

I love it!  I just started it a few weeks ago. Besides my mind racing, I have been having leg pains in the middle of the night that wake me up every half hour or so. I take the CR version and so far have been able to take a half. No hangover the next day and I have a lot more energy since I'm able to sleep.   I know I'll probably get addicted to them. Whenever I forget to take one I wake up all night long but by then I feel it's too late to take it.

I took it for about 10 days awhile back when I wasn't sleeping well at all.  I was a little groggy in the morning, but not too bad.  I'm one that OFTEN has side effects to meds and I didn't really notice any.  I only stopped because I didn't want to get dependent. I haven't had major sleep troubles sinces, but if I do, I'll probably take it again.

Hope it works well for you,

Debbie

I've been on Zolpidem (generic for Ambien) for one yr (10 mg).  It works very well, I take it 3 or 4 times a week.  I am most likely addicted, but I am not worried at this point - it is more dangerous to be sleep-deprived.
