Things we don't miss

We've had a thread about what we miss since we developed SJS, so I thought it might be fun to hear some of the things you don't miss now.  The big thing I don't miss is having to shave my legs and underarms all the time.  I had to shave both almost everyday before and now it is maybe once durning the summer.  My husband says I don't even need to do that.  Nobody but me can see the hair .  Whats there is so fine and so light.  This go for my eyebrows too.  So to look like I have them I use eyebrow pencil.

ROFLOL!!!  He's so right.  I don't have to either.  Once a year maybe.  I really needed that laugh!   ;D

Gosh didn't think of that but yes, I don't have to shave my underarms much at all!

Yep, I'm another one that is minus the fur and I sure don't miss shaving every.single.day and some times twice as it came in fast and furious especially during my teen years.  Only have to pluck the eyebrows once or twice a month instead of a couple of times a week or more.

I also don't miss the oily face and hair!  Wow, I sure would have loved to "harvested" it and stored it away for use in my later years, but who knew? ;) :D

I had forgetten about the oily face, skin and hair.  I didn't even need to apply lotion or cream back then.  Now that all I seem to get done is reapply lotion.  I also miss the drool that use to wet my pillow each morning.  I took a lot of teasing from my husband about that.  My dentist teases me about the first bridge he put in for me.  He had to give me a pill to dry up my saliva before he could do the impressions.  Now he filling and crowning my teeth from lack of saliva. ;) ;) ;)

I'm discovering that I can go longer between hair washes now.  Used to I had to wash everyday due to oily hair.  Now just once a week and the curl actually holds longer too.

In the first thread, I complained that I don't have Saturdays anymore because I spend the whole day sleeping. But I actually don't miss having to spend the full day cleaning now!

Madison Granny,

Thank you for starting this thread!  8)

I don't miss my oily skin and hair, either. I always had to wash my hair every day, or it looked greasy. Like you, Patze, if only we could've saved some of that oil for now.  :-[

I had only recently thought about needing to shave legs and armpits less often. That's nice, but what about this fuzz I'm getting on my upper lip. What's UP with THAT? Did it migrate from somewhere?

Narablueeyes

I noticed since taking Thyroid meds that my peach fuzz thinned out considerably!  I don't have side fuzzies and this one lone, rogue hair that used to pop up out of nowhere (sometimes an inch long!!) is gone too!

Meld, I have a friend who calls that "recreational hair." That's the stuff that shows up just for fun.   :o

I think hair does go to place you don't want it to.  Both my husband and father have last a lot of hair from their head and now have more hair on their backs and chest than ever before.  Why can SJS effect the hair that starts to grow on a women lip and chin.  That's on place I still have quite a bit of.

A66ey,

I'll remember that description for this fuzz; too funny!  It probably has nothing to do with my illness, and everything to do with the fact I'm 55.   :-\

Madison Granny, I think we know what you mean about the men.  My husband was balding very young and finally shaved it all last year; he's "in style" and it looks pretty good on him.  Recently, he was upset to find 2 very silver hairs growing from his ear.  He said it's official: I'm becoming an old man.  It won't grow on my head but it's sprouting out my ears!

My husband has the same thing growing from his ears.  He's so vane at times that he stands before the mirror with tweezers and pulls them out.  He also does this with his nose hairs.  It looks quite funny.  Another thing I don't miss is my makeup melting within a hour after applying it since my face WAS so oily. Now I can't wear it because it seems to bother my eyes a lot.  Oh, well that's just part of life.

At least the guys are good at the daily hygiene. :) Could be worse...

About the makeup, I can relate. I don't miss feeling like I must look as good as possible going out the door to work 5 days a week.  Eye makeup bothers my eyes so much, I don't wear it often.

I'm sorry to bring it up for those who are still working, and sometimes struggling, but it really is nice to not drag myself up to work. Now that I'm on disability it's not even a question if I could do it. But it has it's advantages, and for that I am thankful.

Hm finding out that body hair might grow thinner in the future gives me something to look forward to in all the pain. xD
