OK - I'm just going to tell on myself.  The other day at the grocery store I bought a can of store brand mixed nuts.

I've "hid" this can in the kitchen - down in the drawer where I keep the dishcloths and kitchen towels.  It should be pretty safe there as "my boys" (husband and son) won't EVER look there!   ;)

So, I've been enjoying picking out the cashews, Brazil nuts, filberts, and almonds.  Should they "find" my stash - I've left them the peanuts and some almonds, but that's all they're getting!!   ;D

I'm always giving up my food or treats for them - this is for ME!!   ;D   ;D

I am trying to get 2oz of nuts per day. I read an article that it helps bring your diabetes under control. My A1C is down, my triglycerides are a smidgen high but my cholesterol's are good. Walnut have been my focus. I prefer cashews. (more calories)

Joe, I eat peanuts every day for several years---often on ice cream too. I also eat peanut butter. I have to tell you that I do think it helps with the cholesterol and other lipid tests. My HDL was 85 the last time and I can hardly believe it. I am not taking any statin drugs now but did for 13 years and never had a test this high before. Has to be the nuts.

I also eat almonds and walnuts and mix them with a little dried pineapple and mango, cranberries, etc. Even add a few M&M's at times. I really think that nuts are a good snack for all of us.

I have just discovered a new snack. I found this in a bag at Menards when my blood sugar was down and I was desparate for something to eat. They are called sesame oat bran sticks. At first I thought they tasted weird but now I am hooked on them.

I got a pound of them at the grocery store in the department where the bulk products are. According to the package that I had bought 1/3 cup is 150 calories but only 12 carbs. They are salty and very crunchy, chewy which is what I crave.

I have to also admit to hiding food to chow on when hubby and kids were gone. The worst was when I was pregnant. I would hide a couple of my favorite candy bars high up on the back of the top shelf. This was back when you could by them 10 bars for 10$. Butterfinger were my favorite.

My hubby and I also hid Doritos and Hershey candy bars in the bottom dresser drawer in our room that we snacked on when the kids were outside playing. Adulte do get some priviledges---not many, but a few. Irish ;D

Ahhh, the joys of only two adults in the house!

Although when the grandkids visit they try to 'sniff out' all the goodies stashed around.

Enjoy the nuts.

Nuts to the nuts I always says.

And sweets to the sweets too, especially chocolate.

Bucky,

You always make me smile.  ;D  I really don't remember stashing something away when the kids were little, but I may have!
Just me and my hubby now, and we don't have too many goodies around.  I did have a pack of "special cookies" I just bought and had put in a room off the kitchen when we had a family cookout a while back.

Didn't think our nephew's little sons would see them, but what was I thinking?  Somehow they scoped them out!  So I had to share.  (note to self-remember not to open the package and let a 4-yr.-old grab)  ;D

I love peanut butter and eat it often....like every day! ;) :D  I'm a get a big spoon and dig out a large heaping tablespoon and enjoy for the next half hour or so (find regular nuts painful to eat anymore; mouth hypersensitivity).
