Have to be on antibiotics for tooth/root infection and this has been a nightmare that is not ending. My SS had been flaring first, sinus pain and inflammation too, then the tooth that I had to have extracted because of a root infection. Nothing helping this pain either. Its my neuropathy 1000 times over. I took antibiotic and in the middle of the night, my head became all dried out and stuffy, severe joint pain, numbess/tingling in my whole body and now anxiety....oh, the stomach upset. Cant wait to see what this does to my systemic yeast.

How do you guys tolerate this stuff..i think it made my flare even worse? the dryness is causing more issues.

help?

All my glands hurt soooo bad..think the inflammation is causing more issues with the nerves in my mouth as well.

Hi Gurs,

I am sorry you are not feeling well at all it sounds.

Do all antibiotics do this to you or can you have your doctor switch to something else?

Joe S.

Gurs, you could try my zapping solution. Read Hulda Clarks book "The Cure for all Diseases" to get the frequencies. I did not find the free copy of it. PM me with your email address and I will try to send you a copy.

gurs, I am sorry that you are having such a time with the med. I am also wondering if this has more to do with the flare than the med. We are all different that is for sure.

I am on antibiotics constantly---last year I was on them 10 times and I did doxycycline the first of August and am now on Biaxin not to mention about 4 more previously taken this year. The worst side effects I got was the central nervous system issues like dizziness and inability to think straight/headache from the leveoquin. I had problems with that med for a long time but always tried to make it through the series as I can't take many antibiotics. Immunologist told me no more levoquin.

Make sure that you take the med with some food. There are some meds that say no food, but the docs will all tell you that if you get really nauseated then at least take it with some crackers. Always with plenty of water.

Eat yogurt everyday and you should be ok. Just remember that eating too much yogurt can get you in trouble also as the bacteria in the yogurt can take over your GI tract. Sometimes when this happens people think it is from the antibiotic. Remember that even the normal bacteria can do an overgrowth and cause symptoms.

Let us know how you are doing. I have had some wicked dental infections that took a long time to heal and lots of antibiotics. The worst is when I had to take Flagyl and Clindamycin for 2 weeks at the same time. Have to really keep track of your colon/symptoms, etc when you take those antibiotics. Good luck. irish ;D

Antibiotics attack all the bacteria in your body, the good as well as the bad. Your stomach hurts because the good bacteria is being killed. There are different viewpoints on how and when to replenish them. Some people think that it might be best to do it in between your antibiotic doses. You can  do this with yogurt or probiotics. And you are right about the yeast - taking antibiotics will definitely cause a yeast flareup and so you should ask your doctor what you can do to prevent that. One thing you might try is a diet that is designed to starve the yeast - you avoid sugars and other foods that the yeast needs to grow.
Some antibiotics are worse than others. I was on tetracycline for a year and it wasn't that bad, but a few days of Levoquin is heck.

I never realized I could be taking too many probiotics..I take tons of them..ughmmmm.

Doc gave me some powdered nystain to rinse and swallow with to help with the yeast in mouth and intestines.
No sugar either..pharmacy has to special order this.

Freaking out about my tooth and infection possibly spreading..calling him this morning..pain not much better, but I realize too, with us
SS people, dental stuff takes soooo long to heal up right. I think i might need Amoxicillian..not taking the omnicef anymore,,,,making me nuts
and my joints just swelled up and hurt now, sending me into major flare.

Trying to take my estrogen cream, making me feel sicker when I use it now?

thanks for all the advice guys.

Hi Gursie-
I tried to post last night but my computer is working when it wants to.  I am sorry you are feeling so bad.  Does this cooler weather make you feel any better at all?  Take it easy.  Lucy

gursie, I am going to throw my 2 cents in here, but with dental infections it usually required something stronger than the augmentin or plain amoxicillin. Many docs will order Biaxin, Cipro, Septra or Biaxin.

These dental infections need to be knocked down as soon as possible as they can spread fast to soft tissues that get very close to the brain. I took about a ton of Clindamycin over the years of fighting with oral infections. This drug can really affect the colon, but I just didn't overdo the probiotics with it. Flagyl is also another drug that works well.

When the augmentin doesn't kill it the first time then I am of the personal opinion (from experience) that the stronger meds are needed. Keep in mind that with dental infections there are bacterias growing that are both anerobic and aerobic. This means that the bacteria can live without oxygen(deep in tissues) and with oxygen or more superficial infection.

These 2 infections can occur at the same time and that is why 2 different medications will be given at the same time. No fun, but necessary. Another thing is to just think positive and don't expect to have problems with antibiotics. Sometimes you will feel a little rotten, but if there are no really bad things happening a person will usually get through the series in good shape. Irish ;D
