To our members who live on the East Coast in the U.S.A. - please heed the reports and prepare to evacuate if need be this weekend as Hurricane Irene bears down on you.

Don't take any chances on driving through deep water as flash floods will occur.

Stay safe and we'll be thinking of you.  Keep in touch when you can and let us know how you are.

Praying for your safety.

I'll second that, Bucky.  I hope everyone in the path of the hurricane is prepared and stays safe.

The more I hear about it this evening, the worse it sounds.  Here's hoping maybe it won't turn out as extreme as is predicted.
Take care of yourselves and keep listening to the news.  We'll be thinking of you.  ;)

Thanks guys, the storm has passed me now.  Just some rain and wind from the outer bands left.

Hoping everyone still in Irene's path is battened down.

Wishing you the best,

Shade

Stay safe! You are all in our thoughts and prayers!

Thanks everyone.  I am in New York still waiting for Irene's arrival.

Here in southern Vt the storm is just beginning.
I worry for my sister in north Jersey and my aunt on the Jersey shore.
It's funny the animals were acting weird  all afternoon.  The sheep have been hanging around the barn.
We're at a higher elevation so flooding shouldn't be a big problem.  The winds on the other hand may create lots of problems. Our town was wise enough to cancel school Monday for the children, since the road crew won't be going out during the storm to clean up downed trees and washed out roads.
I will keep others in my prayers as well.
Thank you Bucky for how thoughtful you always are.
God Bless you.

Thanks for thinking of us here in  New Jersey.  Cape May County(southern most county) and shore line up the coast had some flooding, as did areas in the central part of the state, also lots of outages. We're also seeing some major flooding on TV in Philadelphia!
I'm in Cumberland county, just north of Cape May.  There are some power outages and some flooded fields  , but my neighborhood has power and no flooding.  We' re still having strong wind  gusts, no more rain.

Good to hear that everyone is doing pretty well after Irene went through...yes there are power outages and flooding...but everyone seems to be ok for the most part!

Patze...glad to hear you're drying out....how long do you think it will take?? Did you get a lot of flooding by you as well?

Patze

Hi Lynnmarie,

It depends on where you are as to the damage caused (some tree limbs down, side street flooding and a short power outage), but nothing bad at all. :)

I'm glad to hear that our members survived Hurricane Irene with minimal flooding, downed trees, and damage.  It's a good thing that her "punch" died down the farther she went up the East Coast.

Probably the hardest part about any weather related situation is the waiting to see what happens.  It's out of our control - what happens, happens.

I know many of you spent all your spoons trying to prepare for the Hurricane.  It's better to be safe than sorry.

Hope things settle down for y'all this week and life can return to "normal" (whatever that is  ::)).

So glad that many weathered the storm with minimal problems.

Good to hear that it's sunny and it's drying out, Patze.  ;)
