Not scleroderma

Hi

I know a few of us have been wondering whether they have developed scleroderma, and rather than highjack another thread, I decided to start this one to update you on my rheumy visit today.

I actualy saw a female registrar who was very ice. I decided to say from the outset that I was concerned about having cleroderma, to make sure that I was properly assessed. She took me seriously and examined me thoroughly. She's certain that I don't have enough clinical signs and that the ulcer I had on my toe wasn't nasty enough to be Scl. related. Apparently, her colleague had checked out my bloodwork in January to rule the Scl. out, and I was in the clear. She has repeated the bloodwork just in case, but thinks there is 'something else' auto-immune going on with the Sjogren's, just not Scl. I'm very happy with that.

She has arranged for me to have some physio, to strengthen my hips/thighs. She also agrees that I have hypermobile hips and knees, and thinks the physio will be able to help with them too. With the tiredness, unless the bloodwork suggests anything that she can treat, we just have to go with the pacing.

So, a good appointment in all. I will let you know if anything else transpires from the bloods.

Kathyx,

So very happy to hear you do not have Scleroderma.  Pacing is the name of the game, isn't it?  I just had the thought today, I don't even remember what it feels like to have the energy I once had.

Take care.

Great News Kathy,
so glad they dont think its Sclerodoma. It can be a really bad complaint.
Hope that it eased your mind, and wishing you well with the next prognosis.
which I pray is nothing complicated,   Dolly x

Kathy,

I'm so glad to hear of no Scleroderma.  Sounds as if you were assessed thouroughly, and it's always comforting when a someone takes our concerns seriously.  :)

As we know, we can have so many "something else" things going on...these AIs love to bring along their friends to the party.
I really hope the physical therapy will help.  Please keep us updated.
Take care,
Melinda

Kathy,

I just wanted to say I'm happy they think you don't have Scleroderma.  Awaiting news myself, I know how scary the prospect can be.  I hope they find the cause  of your latest symptoms soon.

Blessings,
Jorja

That's wonderful she doesn't think it's scleroderma!

I'm waiting to see my husband's rheumy, who said he'd see me, because he's a scleroderma expert.  I figure he can look at my various symptoms and say for sure what he thinks.  I'm starting to really think I do have it, though, because I have so many different symptoms (some of which are shiny skin in areas, and my face and particularly my mouth are really tightening up).

But we'll see.  Maybe he'll say it isn't, like your rheumy did.  Congrats! Hoping I can join you!

Hi Kathy

That's great news!  Do let us know how you get on at physiotherapy, and what exercises they suggest for your hips and knees.

Thinking of you - Chickpea

Thanks Chickpea.

I will let you know how the physio goes, but it could take several weeks, or even months, for the appointment to come through.

Lovely to see you :D
