Gallstones & SjS

Hello everyone,

Its been a while since my last post but am shortly due to have a colonoscopy    I Just wondered if there is any connection between having SjS and gallstones, does the SjS make us more susceptible to gallstones??

I was dx 6 months ago with gallstones and I am waiting now for futher tests as I am in quite a bit pain to a greater or lesser degree most of the time.  My diet is good and does not seem to affect the pain even on the odd bad diet day?

I had one severe attack about 18 months ago but have noticed my pain is so frequent now and altho not severe can be nasty.  I do NOT want the gallbladder removed if possible but that depends I guess on what the tests say?

My cousin had her gallbladder removed 18 months ago and she has had bowel urgency since along with occasional pain...  I have enough bowel problems, the thought of anymore urgency would make me go crazy..

I would be grateful for any input..

While I have had my gallbladder out it was long before the SJS Dx. I do not think there is a connection.

I had many, many gallbladder attacks just after our son was born.  I ended up having my gallbladder removed when our son was seven wks. old.  When the attacks come, they are so very painful.

This was before I was dx'd too (although, I think I had Sjogren's at the time, just didn't know it).

I had my gallbladder removed laproscopic (sp?) and never had any bowel problems from the surgery.

I had my gall bladder out about 25 years go.  Diagnosed with SJS 4 years ago and I don't think there was any connection.  I had one bad attack and had it out.

They told me what could happen if you let it go and that included getting infected and having to wear a drain tube while you had the infection cleared up.  That thought got right to my brain and said have it done.  Your dr will advise you regarding your situation.  I don't think I've had any special problems during all this time.  The urgency you mention might possibly go away with time.  Good luck.  It used to be a big operation with days in the hospital and now you can't even see the marks.  I have a huge gash across my belly.

I also have had my gall bladder removed laproscopically. Best surgery I ever had, and I had four csections . I started having attacks when I was 17 and it got really bad when I was 29, had it out when I was 30.

My Dr told me once you get stones, it is diseased and no longer functions.  I did get stones stuck in my bile duct, and spent a week in hospital. I say get that sucker out, I could have died.

I will just see what happens with these other tests I have to have and take medical advice but still do my own research
