Heart Issues from SjS??

Yes Really?,

I feel the same way, I am asking this question because I truly believe that these very specific heart ailments that I have going on are from Scleroderma not Sjs. One Dr says yes one says no, I just need to make sure that I get on the right medication for what is going on here!!

Hi Mews,
I'm sorry to hear about all your heart problems but I am one of the members with heart problems also. I have chronic pericarditis and have to take a low dose of prednisone daily. 10 years ago I had a pericardial window done but it didn't work and my docs said i would have to take prednisone for the rest of my life. I was told the pericarditis was caused by SJS. This year I developed high blood pressure and v-tach, and no one else in my family has either.
I hope you get help for all your heart problems. I know how scary it is.

Oh Duffy,

I kept wondering how you were making out! This darn disease is so crazy, this is the last thing I expected, I knew I was having trouble breathing at different times but when the chest pain started I thought for sure it was gerd..who knew I was in stage 1 heart failure!

The strange thing is I have so many different things wrong I can't even remember half of it !!

Please stay well Duffy I know that prednisone can be a tough drug to stay on! Your in my thoughts.

I am having the same symptoms and with so much heart trouble coming from both my Mom and Dad, I mentioned my symptoms to my PCP when I was in a couple of weeds ago.  So they did an EKG and told me that it looked fine.  Well, until now when someone commented that they were told that their's was fine (when done by the PCP's too) and then went
to a cardiologist.  I am taking your advice.  For several months I am so short of breath with hardly any exertion.  Thank you both and everyone else for sharing.  I had no idea that sjogren's could affect the heart.

I've had "heart trouble" since I was a teenager or earlier.  They thought I may have had rheumatic fever but  could not tell for sure. I've had heart irregularity since I can remember.  Drs always said it was nothing.  One time I had 300 bpm for 3 hours.  Well, I talked to my doc and I've been on Tenormin for20+ years and it takes care of the tachycardia.  I have a murmur, which sometimes a doc hears and sometimes they don't.  I have pvc's which the drs don't seem concerned about.  I have a cardiologist I see once yearly.  Lucy

Hi eyeamdry, I am sorry to hear that you have had so many issues with your heart and for so long, but it sounds like it might be hard to say if it's related to the Sjs or not. I wish you the strenght to stay strong to fight  all those battles with the heart.

sjogrens53   Please see a Cardiologist, my problems were in between the lines on the EKG and the Primary care Doc couldn't see that!!
