Yesterday morning I woke up witha headache that a few hours later turned into a migraine.  I had three maxalt pills for migraines. So I took one, four hours later took another.  By evening I still had it so I checked out the expiration date and it said 6-11.  Great!!  Had to call the dr on call and she called in 9 of them. Okay I was going to be put out of my pain shortly......... till the pharmacist called and said the insurance would not pay for them.  I asked how much were they  9 pills = $397.00 WHAT!!!  So I had to have it so I got 2 pills for $90.  They sent paperwork to dr to have him call insurance and see if the insurance will pay for it.

So I took one last night and finally got to sleep.  Today had a good enough headache so I put off taking a pill, since I only have one left and keep thinking what if I use it and it gets really bad, I will have to stand on the corner to get the money, but then whoever took me up on the offer would probally kill me cause he would say "Lady is this all you can do?"  my reply would be Listen I have an autoimmune disease leave me alone!!

Pretty sad when we can not even get the medicines we need, sure hope the insurance pays!!    Cricket >:(

Oh Cricket,

I really hope your insurance can take care of this, too!  It seems outrageous that we need to pay what we do for our meds; at least that's my personal opinion.

I began a recent thread about this. I realize that I had been so fortunate to have prescription benefits. Now it is gone, hopefully temporarily.  I understand how some of us just cannot afford the medicines we need. Thank goodness for the patient assistance programs.
I wish you good luck with the insurance company.  ;)

Crickit,
Reflexology, and meditation are what get me through the migraines. If you are getting too much vitamin A you can get migraines. If you are low on endorphins you can get migraines (drink carrot juice).
