Things should feel good just now - but they are just not!

Hi

In nine days now I'm flying to MO to see my son, DIL and grandson for the first time. Instead of feeling excited I'm just feeling I'm not ready to go. (I will - the flights are booked!)

My legs still haven't recovered from the eczema onslaught that started in January. Eczema gone but I have infected lesions that I'm on yet another bout of antibiotics for. Doxycycline this time. I'm terrified I have an eczema type reaction again - or thrush come to that. Too close to the fight!

I went to the doctor the other day because I feel as though my thyroid is playing up. Apparently its not. Well I've never felt this foggy and 'down' without it being the culprit before.

Now something else has cropped up. Months ago I saw a doc and got dxd with a cyst on the labia. It was reasonably soft and she said to leave it alone unless things changed. So - I'm going away - and over the weekend - things changed! It's now the size of a large grape and it's gone hard and it sort of stings/itches. I know I'll need an op on it. I know its not a big procedure but now I also now I won't be able to get a gynae appointment until after I get back from the states. Yuk. Today I got a letter summoning me to a dental school tomorrow which I presume is a result of the visit I had with the new rheumy. It's for some kind of x-ray. Thankfully work is very good about letting me have time out. I also have a docs appointment on Friday. I just don't seem to be able to get away from them this year.

Thanks for being here to moan to!!

Take care - Scottie

Oh, Scottie..I do pray for you.  :)

About the "cyst"...Is it a clogged Batholin gland? Or BG cyst? If it becomes painful that means it may be infected.  VERY common. I get those. painful, itchy, and UGH. If you need to you CAN get some lidocaine cream from the Pharmacist. Works pretty well.

Oh Scottie-so very sorry that you're having so many issues popping up while you're trying to prepare to prepare to vistit the States.

The cyst sounds very uncomfortable and that darn eczema is just relentless.  Of course, the stress just exacerbates everything!

I hope things settle down for you before the trip and you enjoy yourself and the visit with your family.

Oh Scottie, I don't think I have heard you sound this miserable in all the years you have been on the board. That cyst is probably a Bartholins cyst and they can be incised and drained---make sure that they culture the material that they drain or aspirate off. Could be that the infection is the same of what you have other places.

Havae they cultured any staff out of the skin lesions. Sometimes a person can get an overgrowth of the staph that grows normally on the skin---it still needs to be treated. Also, it sure does seem like there is something going on with you that is new and unusual.

If you don't feel well it may be better to cancel your flight for now. I would hate to see you spend all your time in the US being sick. Is there any chance that your infection could be contagious to your grandchild? Just a thought. It also seems like you are not being treated long enough--maybe a pic line is needed (IV antibiotics). I worry that the stress of the flight and trip will cause you to become worse.

Sorry to be such a party pooper, but I am very concerned about you. I will be thinking of you and hope and pray that things get settled if you decide to go. Good luck. Hugs Irish ;D

(((Scottie))) - it's understandable why you are down - you have been dealing with your legs since January and they are still causing you troubles.  I'm sure you don't feel up to par and that concerns you with the added stress of working these next nine days, the dental x-ray tomorrow, doctor app't. on Friday, traveling and having to deal with your on-going health issues.  Your plate is full!

I think if your legs were completely healed, you would feel better about the trip.

Good luck at the doctor's appointments.  I would be sure to ask about whether your infection is contagious like Irish mentioned - you definitely wouldn't want to give it to your sweet little grandson.

Sending good vibes your way, Scottie.  Hang in there.

Hugs,
Bucky

I really feel for you. IS there a well women clinic anywhere near that you could make an appointment for? Might be sooner than seeing the gyny.

Thanks everyone - you all make me feel better. They are all little things that just seem to have mounted up.

Irish - they did do a culture this time. Doc should tell me about it on Friday.

Cat and Bonusmum - I don't think its a Bartholin's cyyst - I think it is too far forward for that. I was told that if it played up it would need to be removed - but obviously not until after the US now.

Kathy - a well women's clinic is a good idea. I never thought of that. Thanks.

Taker care - Scottie  :)
