Dry mouth findings during dental cleaning

I had my quarterly teeth cleaning yesterday. The dental hygienist found something in my mouth that she had never seen before. I've been chewing Trident sugar free gum like crazy to try to keep moisture in my mouth and I sometimes keep a wad of gum trapped between my molars to act as a soft surface for my tongue to rest against. Apparently the skin underneath my tongue was so dry that a tiny bit of gum was tightly adhered to my it after I removed the gum to have my teeth cleaned. She always examines my mouth carefully as part of the exam and she had no idea what that "lesion" was and she had a hard time prying the gum off my skin with forceps. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm surprised, I thought others with dry mouth would have had some thing similar - like having some food stick from chewing or swallowing?

I've gotten bits of Trident gum stuck to my teeth also, but not to the extent you describe.
I use a waterpic, which is excellent for clearing debris out. I add some fluoride rinse to the water.

I've never had this problem but I chew Trident quite a bit when I am in public to keep my mouth moist, too.

  I dont have much bother with it on my gums, but I wear dentures,

                  and have to chew gum which then sticks to the dentures .

                  Each evening I have to get a little  pointed scraper and poke the gum from the spaces of each tooth.
                  It sticks like cement too,  UGHHHHH.... Dolly
