As you all know, right now it is tax time.  Last night we had our tax appointment.  I walk in with my envelope of receipts and whatnot to go over with the accountant.  We go through everything and he asks if I have a 1099 from one of our banks that we've had in previous years.  Hmmmm . . . . I look through the envelope.  Nope, don't have.  He can't tell us what our refund is without this paper. I tell him, "I'll look around at home and call you tomorrow".

Last night, after we got home, I looked and looked and looked.  I'd look in one spot - nothing.  Then, I'd think - oh, it might be here - go look, nothing.  So frustrating.

This morning, I'm still looking for it.  Can't find it anywhere.  Actually, I don't even remember seeing it to start with - at least I didn't think I had.

Finally decided that I'd just go to the bank in question and ask for another copy - even if I had to pay for it, it would be worth it.  The bank tellers put my info into their computers - nothing.  Hmmmmm . . . .  Then, I go to one of the managers and she puts in the info in.  It showed that there was only $9.53 interest in 2010.  The bank doesn't send out 1099's for anything less than $10.

Woohoo . . . I'm NOT crazy after all (at least this time  ;)).  I never would have found it if I had kept looking until the cows came home!!

What a relief.  I am known to occasionally misplace things and I've played the lost and find game a lot - but, with the tax information I'm pretty good about putting all that into a manila envelope so it's all in one place.

Hunting for things is exhausting . . . I'm ready for a nap!   :D

I had a similar problem. Fortunately, my tax preparer told me about the under $10 rule. I was not forced to search. Boy, do I know the feeling!
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.

I did the exact same thing last year!  I called the bank in a panic!  the teller had to calm me down and tell me it was because I earned so little interest on the account.  ::)

One and only

pretty depressing that we canbarely manage to get about 10 bucks in interest,, just shows how poor most of us are
