Ok guys - so I've been trying to be good about taking my Plaquenil like I'm supposed to and I've cut way back on soda and I'm trying to stay hydrated and I started yoga for the SJS and joint pain and also to help me sleep, and I have been trying to be more positive about stuff.  Well I had been doing GREAT and feeling better and really on a roll getting stuff done and then guess what - I did something very, very stupid.  My friends convinced me to go to a Chicken and Beer Dance (funny, I know) as a fundraiser for their daughters' softball team and the one friend mentioned all week how we were all going to drink together so I skipped my medicine for two days and had WAY too much to drink and now I'm paying the price.  I had a GREAT time with my friends and we had a blast, but I swear I've been hungover for a week now. I have thrown myself into a little flare and my joints are killing me and I keep feeling dizzy and I'm down and I'm not getting anything done and I've barely made it to work.  I had to take one day off as vacation just to rest and it barely helped.  OH - I could just KICK myself!

It is what I get for trying to be "normal" and socialize with my friends.  And you know, I knew better, but I took a chance to have a little fun for five minutes.  So now I know - no more drinks for me!!!!  It isn't worth it!  GRRRR!

You can still socialize with your friends. You are now the designated driver. I would some times say it was against my religion. Then people started asking if I was Muslim so I had to stop saying that. Now I just say I am the designated driver. I usually will get a free soda out of that or cranberry juice. Most water in bars tastes bad.

I'm so glad you took up yoga.  It's really helped me.  I don't think it helps with a hangover though ;)

I haven't had alcohol in so many years that I am under the table with one teeny tiny glass of wine.  But I wonder if drinking in moderation like nursing a beer or two would have the same effect or if it wouldn't be so bad?  But would it be worth going off meds for just a pint?

Hope you recover soon!

I found out that bars still make Shirley Temples and they don't laugh when you order them... at least the bartenders I ordered them from didn't (although I was really quiet so the people around couldn't hear me) ;D .  Reminded me from when I was a kid... they are yummy too.

I am not a heavy drinker; however, I do miss a Singapore Sling now and then.  What does happen if you have one, teeny tiny drink while on the Plaquenil????  I have been so good for several years now, but I get tired of being the designated driver.  Am I venting or what?!!?!?

Have a good weekend everyone - and a safe one.

jpd, I used to be able to drink one or two no problem or side effects but now I have terrible GI problems.  Mostly 'D' and the following day, ALL day... which is not good.  Some people can handle it and some can't, I used to enjoy a glass of wine every now and then and the doc said it was fine but my gut now says "no way!" :(

Dear Jordozmom:

You're only human to be able to want to partake in some enjoyable activities with friends.  Many of us learn our limits with this disease the hard way, I know I sure have.  I never was a big drinker, but I sure would love to have a nice shot of Baileys in front of the fire once in a while.  Having a lukewarm glass of non carbonated water with a spritz of lemon just isn't the same thing! lol.

Hugs,
Daisy

Hey, you had a good time. You didn't "pay" for it really Just next time, you'll know to take things a bit easier.  ;) I am going to start Yoga, too! And, My sister (The runner in great shape..UGH) wants us to take our kids to the Zoo next week. Sad that I have to "prepare" for that...lol...make sure I have slept, taken meds, vitamins, etc..Water! ;D

Take care!

XOXO,
