Our family's pain in the arse is my sister-in-law, my brother's wife, who is my only sibling's, wife.  She is 9 years his senior.  She has alienated him and his son (not her child) from my family and our mother.  :'(  At our Dad's funeral, she announced they were moving from CA to Illinois because they have "better family" there (one of her brothers lives there).

I keep telling myself that my brother is staying with her until my nephew graduates high school (in two years) and then my brother will kick her to the curb, but that may be just wishful thinking on my part.

On the other hand, I adore my MIL and FIL and the feeling is mutual. Their former DIL was a manipulative drama queen that left a trail of terror wherever she went.

Are my halo and wings shiny and straight?  ;D

I just attempted to text my nephew on his 16th birthday and I've been blocked/banned :'(

We didn't send him a card because we knew it would never be given to him (his step-monster would never give him the cards from his bio Mom's side of the family--I witnessed that first hand) and we were told point blank not to give him any gifts because "they" could provide for him and "didn't need our money."  We're not rich, but we are now empty nesters so we have a little extra where they are obviously raising a hungry and growing kid.  It's not a big deal for us to spend thirty bucks on a sweatshirt but it apparently offends them  ::)

Not to worry, we sent my nephew a text from my hubby's phone.  My darling nephew knows his Auntie loves him!  Hopefully, he'll know not to mention it to the step-monster or DH's number will get blocked as well  :(

I bet your nephew is just so pleased he has such a kind and caring aunty and uncle. Now that he's almost an adult, I bet he will do his best to keep in touch with you by one means or another.

He's a lucky lad to have you as his relatives.

Thanks, Kathy.  I can only hope that's what he thinks and that someday he'll feel like he can be part of our family again.

BonusMom,

Isn't that amazing that your number would be blocked? Good grief; I'm with Katybarstool. Surely your nephew knows you love him and won't stop trying to be a part of his life. I'm sure he'll feel like he can be a part of your family again in the future. Kids don't forget kind and caring aunts and uncles.
