So I have been gradually weaning myself off of zoloft.  I was prescribed this about 2 years ago while I was going about getting a diagnosis of Sjorens.  The neurologist at the time told me nothing was wrong with me and it was "all in my head" and that I should start zoloft for generalized anxiety.  Of course I was anxious at the time.........there were some very scary things going on with my body!! Anyway so I did agree to give it a go and I do feel like it did help me at the time. But I have noticed feeling more in a "fog" like state and not really feeling like myself so I decided to wean myself off.  You have to do it very slowly, because withdrawl side effects suck!! Super dizzy to say the least!!  Now I am able to only have to take 12.5mg every few days or so and i feel GREAT!!!!  I am so much happier, have more energy, and I really feel like I am getting "myself" back! I have more patience with my kids and I'm sure my hubby notices too!  Hope I feel this good forever :) (Wishful thinking!)

Marie,

When I was first diagnosed with Sjogrens, I, too, had anxiety over all the different things happening in my body.  Guess what, I was prescribed Zoloft as well and took for 5 months.  My dentist told me I needed to get off of it because it was drying my mouth even more and I wasn't really depressed.  Anyway, I slowly weaned as you mention and I felt so much better being off.  It kept me in a dull, semi zombie state as well.  Good luck to you.

Good for you!  Wish more people would do this.  I have a friend who is on 5 different prescription medicines for anxiety, depression and GI problems.  Now she is trying to get off, taking a long time, and the withdraw side effects are huge.  It is going to take her 2-3 years to totally get off.  What a feat!
