I look like I lost a fight w a cat!!!

Ugh. Horrible flare (I'm assuming!) yesterday. Sinus headache, nausea, stayed in the recliner allll day. (typically we are going nonstop on the weekend w our three kids.

So over the course of the day, I took two vicodin, one in the day and one before bed. I was itching so severely that not even the vicodin was letting me sleep thru it. I waited till about two am to take benadryl, since I didn't want to mix meds. I get the whole itchy after the shower thing pretty often, comes in spurts and it hadn't been so bad lately.

This morning while getting dressed, I noticed big scratches all over my body! I had no clue I was that rough on myself! And it's not like I have dragon lady nails!

I've put off going to the rheumy for a long time, but this is it!

Thanks for letting me vent and not calling me crazy. (or at least not crazier than anyone else on this board!)

One thing for sure, you are not crazy 

I itch all over as well, especially my bottom of my legs and stomach. If I can grin and bear it and don't itch then after about 10 minutes of torture it goes away, but if I start scratching, then thats it, I can't stop.

Hope you start feeling better soon and get in touch with that rhumey.

I get that way too...itch like  there's no end in sight!! Hope it gets better!

I take a med called Xyzal or matbe Xyzol. Anyway, it is a second cousin of Zyrtec and works very well but doesn't have the sleepy effects.

Now, I don't itch nearly as much as you do, but when I start to have one place that is itching I will wait about 15 minutes or so and if the itch keeps up I will take a pill. If I don't take it then I find that the itchiness will increase. I have had a couple severe allergic reactions and I also tend to itch very easily. This med has helped me a lot. I think that it is stronger than the benedryl also---at least it seems to work better for me than the benedryl. It also lasts many hours longer.

Now, the bad thing is that it is spendy. My insurance won't pay for it but I only fill the script one times a year (my itchy goes in spurts) and that keeps the price in line for me. Also, you might want to ask the doc if you can take the xyzol and the benedryl at the same time. It seems that my doc gave them to me at the same time when I had a bad allergic reaction. Good luck. One summer I was teach children with Autism, and ADHD. Part of it was I had to take the class of 20 swimming and be their life guard. The clung to me in the pool. When I got home and took off my T-shirt my wife asked me if I spent the day training wild animals because of all the scratches on my back.

I am the same way. Today I woke up with several big scrathes on my face. It embarassing! I need to were mittens that you put on babies to prevent them from scrathing themselves lol
