Elevated IgA

I understand that an elevated IgG is an indicator of AI disease, but what does an elevated IgA indicate?

The only thing I know high IgA can be related to is Glomuronephritis. How is your kidney function?

I have high abnormal IgA as well though only by 20% and dropping. How high is yours? I read that it can indicate Lupus.

I have high IgG as well btw but still normal.

There is group of IgG blood levels that are done to check for primany immune deficiency and other things. They check the IgA, IgG (which has 4 subclasses called 1,2,3,4) and IgM which measures the levels of the muscles. You will have to do a search to check what each class signifies. These levels signify the involvement of tissues, etc. The IgG usually involves the mucus membranes of the upper respiratory system, sinuses, etc.

Thanks for responses and the link, Irish.  When I was first being tested for AI disorders my IgA was nearly double the normal value and the IgM was slightly elevated.. My kidney function is fine although I have also been diagnosed with SLE.

So last year my rhume at the time, did them tests and my IgG came back low and he really never explained why or what that meant.. when I google it I get so many different reasons I get too confused!!!!
