Hi CK,

Let me welcome you to the SJS World and family!  Please look around the board as you'll find scads of information that is just amazing!

I'm sorry that you're having a tough time, and though I don't have depression, there are some members here that have had problems with it or currently having an issue.  Hopefully one of them will stop by and give you some information about their experiences (my mouth is not really dry, it's the eyes that are just awful).

By chance, have you spoken to your doctor about it yet?  If so, what does he say about it?

Again, welcome, and hopefully you'll get an answer or two soon.

Take care of yourself -

Hi CK and welcome to Sjogrens World!

Usually when you take salagen it's a pretty immediate acting medication...at least that's been my experience and most of what I have read here. If this med doesn't seem to be working for you...maybe you can talk to your doctor about trying something else like Evoxac....what med works for one may not work for another! For me Evoxac didn't work at all but salagen did and others here have had just the opposite experience.

I also take Lexapro with my salagen and I have been doing that for quite some time with no problem. Talk to your doctor about which medication he/she thinks would help with your depression....there are so many out there now, but I don't think it should interfere with your "spit medicine".  ;)

Hang in there and keep us posted on how you are doing, ok?

Hi CK - I don't have any suggestions for your post, but I did want to welcome you to the fold.

I hope you find this site useful to you on your Sjogren's journey.  We're all on this road together - some have been walking here longer than others, some are brand new.  Just remember - you are not on this journey alone.

If you type in a certain word in the Search box to the top left, it will take you to previous posts about that subject.  One could be here for weeks just reading.   :o  ;)

Again, welcome.

With depression it helps to talk to someone that doesn't have a vested interest in you (not a friend, relative or anyone close) .   Just writing it down helps it seem real and it is a first step. So is coming here.
I would recommend a couple visits to a counselor (not a psychologist or phychiatrist). If you are working, most company health plans cover at least a few sessions. Just getting the "load off your chest" helps and he/she can help you on how you look at things.  We can't always change our circumstances but we CAN change our reaction to them.

I was having major stress at work and was helped. Also I was a caretaker for my folks for many years and a counselor helped me learn how to deal with things.   With any disease you go thru the "7 stages of grief" and everyone takes a different amount of time to get through it.
We Soggies have had sooo many ups and downs trying to get a firm diagnosis of what we have.
Good Luck!
