Well. i thought I was dealing with the addition of Medrol and flaxseed oil.  Some of my swelling  and tenderness is down.  (I even put stockings on for a Sunday wedding! I haven't been able to do that for over a year!!)   Now I picked up a nasty bug---sore throat, post-nasal drip and headache, tired as can be--good thing this isn't in sound-- you wouldn't be able to hear me    :-\
So , it's  back to my GP this afternoon.  It will be the first time I've seen him since I was diagnosed with PSS in March.  Hope I have enough voice and energy to educate him on this disease. He didn't think all my problems were related; specialist said yes they were.  He'll probably add another med to my list( at least it will only be short term!)  Does any one else have a problem getting over the common cold type of stuff?

quilt4fun -

Sorry you've caught a bug and are not feeling well.  :(

Knock on wood, I haven't had very many colds since being dx'd with Sjogren's.  I am a constant hand washer.  Whenever I am out and about in the public - as soon as I walk in the door at home, I wash my hands.  I try and make a conscience effort to keep my hands away from my mouth, nose and eyes until I've washed my hands.

From reading other posts, it does seem that it takes us Sjoggies longer to shake things than it does "normal" people.  Since we already have a compromised immune system, having a cold just adds more to our misery.   :(

I hope you get to feeling better quickly.  Make sure and get plenty of rest.  If you have a cool mist humidifier in your bedroom it might help.  Our son always takes my cool mist humidifier when he has a cold and it makes him feel better.

A bowl of chicken soup, a blanket, some Vics Vapor Rub on your chest and some sleep will do wonders.   ;)

Take care . . . .

If you want to get rid of your cold, the Vics Vapor Rub does not go on your chest, it goes on the soles of your feet!

Thanks folks.  It was hard to avoid, three out of four grandchildren, 1 daughter-in-law and 1 son all had it first, and I spent a lot of time with them in the past 2 weeks.(another long story that I won't go into)
I am a hand washer, drives others crazy, but I guess it wasn't enough.  Never heard of Vicks Vapo Rub on the feet.  Sounds interesting.
I usually don't feel this bad with a head cold.  Ahhh, what a relief it will be to get rid if it!!!

Back from Dr's office-"Oh, you've got it bad" Gave me azithromycin and r-tanna(an anithistamine, which I generally cannot tolerate- dries me up too much). We'll see how it goes.  His reaction to the PSS was" you're a mess!"  He never suspected that; but he's glad I"m getting help .

Jan,

Sounds like it's a good thing you got in to see the doctor today!  Here's hoping the medicine will help and you'll feel better in no time.

Rest up and take care.

JAN,  Might be wise to get you some probiotics tomorrow to help keep the gastro tract from being your next 'sjoggie gift!'   ;)

Ever consider using the Nettie Bottle Sinus Rinse? :)

It's Friday afternoon, and  am feeling much better. Still some  congestion and scratchy throat. The medicine did not give me stomach troubles, thank God.  Thanks for your encouragement.

Jan - glad to hear you are feeling better.   ;D

Maybe gargle with some warm salt water for the throat.  My MIL used to swear by it.

Relax and have a good weekend.
