Antibiotics

All of us here are not stupid and know what happens when antibiotics are used to often,, but for those who dont,, they become ineffective,, thats why we have things like MRSA,, so when you go to the docs with some kind of problem that he or she thinks can be cured with a course of antibiotics,, dont just take there word for it,, they cant see whats causing your problem,, and taking more antibiotics just wipes out the guts natural bacteria, then your in more trouble,, or you end up like me,, with PICC lines from MRSA,, both times hospital acquired,, and they had the nerve to send me a letter to tell me that they had to report it to the state,, and try to apologize for any (inconvience) it may have caused me,, oh they added any distress also,,

Navydad, you are so right. I've seen the GP today for a really sore throat. She was adamant that I wasn't getting any antibiotics - and I agrred, I didn't want any. Instead, Im relying on nice cold yoghurt, and a throat spray.

Hospitals can be the most dangerous place in the world for your health. I avoid them like the plague. (cause I don't want the plague)

Good point.

The other important thing to remember with antibiotics is that if you have been given a course of them - it's important to finish that course even if you are feeling better. It's the residual 'bugs' in your system that mutate into antibiotic resistent bacteria. Finish the course and kill the lot!!

They should report it to the state, the state needs to know that their cleanliness protocol has a gap in it.  I wonder if that is public information, it should be.

I am currently on my second round of antibiotics for an abscessed tooth. I am hoping that tomorrows root canal will take care of the problem. MRSA is not killed with autoclave. It is a bug that does not fit the medical infection protocol model.

navydad, THey always report MRSA to the state. They are mandated to do so. The whole country is trying to work on this problem. It can be hospital acquired and it can be community acquired.

I have it living in my naso-pharynx and have to be treated for it at leat 3 times a year. My hubby has it also. We both have low iimmune systems and are high risk for infection.

Hubby had 4 infections in his spinal cord at one time 8 years ago when he had his 2 back surgeries. He had cellulitis,meningitis, septicemia, discitis (the worse pain ever---his pain score with IV morphine was 18). Kiddingly the doctor told us later that the test for discitis was to touch the foot of the bed and if you had to scrape the patient off the ceiling they had discitis. That was about the sum of it.

Hubby was in the hospital 3 months and had CAT scans with dye every 2 weeks for these 3 months. He could not sit down for about 6 weeks. He had to lay on his sides or stand up which was pure &^#% to do for him. He also caught the flu virus like you get on a cruise ship. He was so sick and vomited so hard that I spend the whole night holding his spine so that the incision wouldn't break open. Scared the nurses half to death cause he was so sick. I took care of him and they stood and watched---which was no problem cause that is the way we are at our house.

Anyway, antibiotics are needed at times and it can't be helped. If we get infection we have to get treated--is it anybodies fault. No--if a person goes in the hospital in this day and age they better be prepared and not be surprised if they get an infection. Sad state of affairs, but that is the way life is nowdays. Around my house we avoid the hospital at all costs, but there are times when it can't be avoided. Like when hubby had cancer surgery and when he had his stroke.

navydad, have your ever gotten your IgG checked again. Remember that infections are frequent when one has low IgG and the sinuses are the one spot that is usually affected plus makes one high risk for infection. Irish
