Tonight the insomnia's different

I always find it hard to get to sleep but tonight the reason is better than sometimes.

My daughter in law - in Missouri - is in labour. She's been induced but has got to the stage of having had an epidural. My son is emailing from time to time. (I'm in the UK)

Hopefully - in the near future - I'll be a grandmother for the first time!

What the poor wee soul's life will be like - I don't know. I have lupus/SjS/hashi's and my son has Crohn's. His wifes grandmother has hashi's. His wife, so far, hasn't been dxd with anything but any time i've met her she needs to go and lie down a lot!

That aside - having a first grandchild is exciting. The relationship will have to be through cyberspace however. Will maybe meet him next easter if I get it together enough to book flights.

A first time Grandma, huh?  How exciting.  Guess you and hubby will have to move to the U.S.A. so you can spoil this grandchild in person!   

Maybe, by the time we wake up in the morning - your grandchild will have made his/her grand entrance.

Hi   

Well he arrived last night while I was asleep. I did sleep eventually - I had work today. Avery James born 17th Sept, 12.45 Missouri time. (6.45 my time I think) Mother and baby well. He weighs in at 8lbs 2 oz and looks like he has long arms and legs. Saw hinm by video link tonight but the sound wouldn't work! My son has been put on diaper duty.

Won't get to see him till next easter because of term time commitments.

I'll post a photo via photo bucket sometime but haven't uploaded yet. So saying - one newborn looks very much like anothner in many respects. He's pretty pale and looks quite big to me, but then he's more than a lb heavier than any of mine were.
