What a terrible tragedy for that family.   :'(

I often think about all the members here who have pill boxes, pill bottles, etc. around their houses and have children or grandchildren around.  It only takes a split second for a child to pop something into their mouths.  I'm sure many of the pills we take could be lethal to a child . . . . . everyone PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE be careful with your medicines with kids and pets in the house.

One time when my son was little (younger than 2 yrs. old), I left him in the house as I ran down to the mailbox to get the mail.  In the short amount of time I was gone - he had found a peppermint disk candy, put it in his mouth, and was choking on it!   I have no idea where he found this piece of candy.  He wasn't real verbal yet and the only way I found out about the candy was he took me to the carpet and showed me he had thrown up and there was the piece of candy.   Scared the living daylights out of me.

If everyone would just look around your house and MAKE SURE it's kid friendly.  We, as adults, think nothing of having change, safety pins, paperclips, bobby pins, etc. laying around where they could easily be scooped up by children.  It only takes a split second and it could forever change everyones lives.

Just posted on Re: HELP! How do you remember to do everything??  Mentioned that our 4 grandkids will be coming to spend a week on the farm with us soon. If you time permits please read how this Mamaw keeps her meds safe.

Modified at 11:42 pm. Oh, my goodness a camera battery... Never, no never, would I have thought of a battery.  How sad   :'(

The rest of my story is this Mamaw has a little cabin near the creek's side by the big meadow and the grandkids are free to come and go 'banging the screen door' as many times as they like.  The inside is a memory lane of my life on the farm. Each of the two little rooms have a single bed and the grandkids and I have sleepovers there instead of my bedroom at what they call, The Big House.  And, they call my little two-room cabin, 'Mamaw's Doghouse'!!

We have secret paths, places you can climb to the forks of a tree and watch the world below, ride on the zip swing and land in the swimming hole.  Even have a fishin' hole or two...  The two little girls have come from Atlanta area ever since they were 2 and 4 each summer and 'hooked' up with the elder grandson that lives in the community. Now we have another grandson, 7-yr old. that lives with his parents in the home that my family used as a summer and winter get-away to our beautiful foothills near the Smoky Mts.

Just imagine having  7-9-11 & 13 yr. old grandchildren!!! Our three kids sure did a wonderful job of spacing them, don't you think???  All our grown-up kids assure us this is the end of grandchildren... to enjoy them while their young!!! ;)

TEN DAYS TILL THE PARTY BEGINS!!! Off to bed...it's getting late!  :D

THINK IT MIGHT BE WISE TO REST UP THIS FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND... CATCH YOU NEXT WEEK!!!

Goodnight and sleep well, Joy
