Gabapentin again?

Hello,

My two extremely thorough (and NICE) new neuropathists have asked me, in light of my sometimes extreme reaction to some meds, whether I'd be willing to give gabapentin another shot - but proceeding VERY slowly - for the PN/SFSN because it worked for my post-shingles neuropathy some years ago.

Have those of you who take/took it had good, so-so or poor results for your neuropathy (I understand each person can react differently from another to any given med).

I am currently taking it.  It helps keep my Trigeminal Neuralgia under control for the most part.  I still have other Neuropathy issues and they wanted to increase my dose but I could not handle a higher dose.  It just knocked me out.  I have been taking this med for about two years. 

Hope that it works for you.  It is so hard to judge since medicines affect us all so differently.  I do think that it would help me better if I could tolerate a higher dose.

I take it when I'm desperate, it helps a lot with all my nerve pains (peripheral neuropathy, intercostal nerve impingement, multiple/nerve impingement's in my spine) My negative reaction is a complete loss of short term memory and concentration, really just an increase in brain fog. I typically take it at night when the neuropathy gets bad.

I take it with good results. My rhuemy just raised the dosage. I'll post if anything bad happens.

Thanks everybody for the mostly positive words about gapapentin.  I've been afraid to get going with it, but tonight plan to start with only half a capsule for a few days before increasing to the whole dose which is supposed to be taken at bedtime.
