I have a really thick white coating on my tongue and some red sores. The white coating is really thick and I can scrape it. I know, it sounds gross.Anybody can tell me what it could be? Candida?

Oh yes dear. I am not a doc. However, My daughter Miranda has struggled with that for a year. It was a white film that we could not wipe off with lesions. They eventually were Biopsy and found to be Lichen Planus. Look it up on google images. It will grose you out but youll probally find one that looks like yours.
Some are more extreme then others. They gave her a motuh rinse for the Candida and Her lesion hasnt came back yet. But she still gets numberous mouth ulcers. You sould be able to control the Candida with the rinse. I hope you get better soon. And lay off the spicy stuff. :) My daughter is twelve. She still insists on eating her hot wings and then freaks out after every bite:). I lvoe her. Take care;

Before I got diagnosed, I first went to the dentist who thought my dry mouth may have been due to candida.  He gave me an antibiotic rinse which didn't work and then I tried a stronger med - diflucan - a pill for three days.  It didn't help either - that's when I went for more testing.  As for the tongue, I still have a light film of white and usually have some sores - thankfully I haven't had a sore for about 3 days now!!  Good luck.

The lack of natural saliva changes mouth ph and normal flora. It is a climate Candida and other nasties love.  Candida is a yeast. Bakers have used salt since bread was first discovered to control yeast growth. I brush my tongue with some salt on my tooth brush and let it sit 5 to 10 min then rinse. Bioteen gargle has enzymes and a ph to help restore normal flora and retard others.  I just went from over a dozen tongue and mouth sores, plus oral Candida so bad I could barely talk or eat  -to cleared in 4 days.     I use the salt trick, sip red wine  (You can even spit it out) It stains the Candida and the tannin in it is very helpful.   I use 10% Rue Fennel tincture from the eye dropper it comes with and just touch the sores and try to just leave it be.  It is like iodine on a scratch the first minute. But far better than days upon days of the sores. Twice a day , that's it.    Also I use Neosporin  Lip treatment on a Q-tip to sooth the sore areas. It is not toxic. Avoid sweets and sweet or strong alcohol, and acidic juices and foods.     Yogurt and keifer or liquid yogurt are soothing and a good competitive normal flora. Also set stomach back to health flora.  One more trick I chew and slow swallow or suck on the berry flavored acidophilus tablets.  These are easy things to do. And can be done when things start to go wrong.   I have never had to use a formal med with these tricks.  If your does get that severe, yes ,see the doctor. But ask him if what I suggest makes sense.  Formal and complimentary; you might as well be aware of the full arsenal.  Hope this helps  ,Rostradamus

My docs recommend chewable probiotics....I use Nystatin oral daily..also...a 3 day course of diflucan doesnt normally work on someone with a compromised
immune system..maybe weeks/month. I take diflucan everyday and I still have a hard time controlling my candida..even with a no sugar diet.
