I know this has been discussed before, but wondered is anyone on Humira? How soon did you notice effects? I had my first shot 1 week ago and I really think I am feeling some positive changes.

Is it possible for me to notice effects this soon?

If it is all in my  head...so be it, but I truly think the pain is less, although the swelling in my hands has still not gone down. I wil give it another month and then I will give in and have my wedding band made bigger. Have not been able to get it on since early Oct.!!!

So anyone out there that has taken this let me know how it worked for you.
Thanks,
Robin

Robin, I've never taken Humira, but I remember being told that methotrexate would and could take six months to work.  I was so deathly sick then and just being diagnosed.  MTX is taken on a weekly basis.  I take 6 pills on Monday, for example.  I swear the day before my second weekly dose that I felt "some" better.  So this is not necessarily all in your mind.  Good luck, Lucy

Hi Robin,
I have been on the Humira just shy of two months. I too noticed a boost within
the first week, and it slowly progressed from there.  I have found it helps a great deal
with the nuerlogical stuff, twitches, numbness, tingling.  It it also great for breathing,
digestive and fevers and joints.

Does nothing for dry eyes or dry mouth.  That never changed.  I can live with that.

Now they will tell you that the shot is not based on time, it doesn't work like that, it doesn't wear away like say an asprin.  Well, I have found that it does.  Meaning a day before my next shot is always the worst and then
the day after the best.  I can't proved this, but i am convinced without a doubt the effectiveness of it is time based.

For me, of all the medications I have taken, I have gained the most benefit.

I was on Humeria for about 5 years and It worked really well for me.  It can work very quickly for some people.  It did for me.   After 5 years I built up a tolerance for it, and the doctor switched me to Orencia, which also worked well.  Now I am in a drug study and this seems to be working really well.  They can all help to fight the fatigue, that we get with RA and SJS.  Good luck I hope it works as well for you.

Robin the longer you are on it the longer it stays effective,  It builds up cumulatively.  If you get a cold or infection and you have to be off of it for awhile, you will notice it can be effective for up to 6 weeks or so, until you really feel it wear off.
