Pet(s) Make you Smile?

Thought I'd start a new topic.  I know lots of you have pets out there for companionship or just comic relief. Or maybe it is kids and spouse that do that? Hmm.

Anyway I thought I'd ask:  What has your pet done lately to make you smile or laugh?

I'll start.  I ran the water in my bathtup to take a bath, left the door open and went to get a robe before I got started. Came back in the batheroom and there is a kitty in the tub splashing around in the water.  I don't mind giving him a bath but I don't want to share.  ;) ;D

That's a good one Pisces!  I've heard others say the same thing about their cats, but my cat is not that exciting!  Nope, he's more of a comic relief kind of kitty. :D

The latest thing that he's done is to run into the wall (not the first time, but the funniest so far!).  Let me try to explain this one for you...  I was sitting by my computer one day, and just typing away as usual  :D (he's usually by my feet under my table, not that day, he was close to the wall).  Now, he was on his back (sunning himself as usual  ::), he's a silly kitty), and someone knocked at the door.  Being that he's a big coward, he jumps up (close to a foot), and instead of following along the wall and making a sharp left, this turkey goes instantly into a left mode turn and straight into a wall.  Bamm, the boy is back on the floor, and I about wound up there myself laughing so hard I had the neighbor laughing too (before he knew what he was even laughing at).

Poor kitty probably had a headache the rest of the day, he sure was a bit "clingy" the rest of the night.

During this winter my three cats have not been too interested in going outside, neither have I....BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

BUT, to get them to go out to potty, I have found I MUST step outside the door to ensure all is safe and then start the countdown...5-----4------3------2-----seems to be the 'miracle' number------------1.       No takers, I close the door >:( and, off through the house I go to imply something. Not sure what I have been implying BUT it has worked two-fold.

After 2 months of this D*** snow and bitter cold day after day, HAVE LATELY FOUND A SMILE ON MY FACE MANY A NIGHT!
When bedtime comes, I call each of them by name and say do you want to go OUT or to the BASEMENT? Then I go and open the basement door and begin the countdown 5-------------------4-----------------3---------2--------------------------1. Ninety percent of the time, here they come in a line, Iris, first- Rose, 2nd-and, Marianne, third, and make their exit to the basement.

YOU KNOW, never thought I'd feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel this way or certainly say it on this site, BUT all this snow has been worth it!!
You say, ???

Nine years these cats played hide and seek with me when they sensed I was getting ready to go to bed. NOW I'M JUMPING WITH J  :) y!!!!

Sounds good to me Joy!  Training cats, who knew you could?  ;D

We have 4 cats,   Smudgie, Squirty Einstein, Ziggy and the youngest Rufus..   Rufus is very energetic and likes to chase the other cats around,   We have a loft on the second floor and the steps going up to it are open.  Rufus likes to go up the back of the steps and then go through the upper step to get to the loft.   We have an open area also with a plant that goes through the supports and he likes to be daring and balance on the supports and play with the plant.  He keeps us entertained.   He did fall off the loft when he was younger and really scared me.

Our cat smudgie is the oldest cat and she gets really cold in the winter, she likes to sleep under the covers with us.   My husband is very gassy and one night he left one that was pretty bad, Smudgie shot out of the covers like she was possessed and now she won't get under the covers when he is in bed!

My two cats Wadadli and Kokomo (Dudley and Mo for short) are way too into each other (brother and sister) to be very bothered with me - except they like to walk all over the computer when I'm on it and lay on the table in front of the TV screen when I'm trying to watch it.

We went today to pick up a rescue dog for my Mum.  She's blind and lives alone (except for her cat) and she has wanted a dog for ages.  She got refused for a guide dog because they don't like to give them to people who live in rural locations with no pavements, so we applied for a little rescue dog and she has been waiting since long before Christmas.

Finally today we collected a little miniature long haired dachshund, 8 years old, called Cherry.  She is adorable and has settled on Mum's lap like she's always been there.  The pleasure on my 80 year old Mum's face - that made me smile!

FYI:

You can train cats, I did! I have taught my cat(Emily) to sit and to give paw!(shake). Was trying to teach the dog(Maggie), but as if one is getting treats the other must also...I taught them both...

Hate to say it but the cat learned way before the dog!

So they can be trained....

We have two cats, Bill and Sadie. Bill is 18 years old and Sadie is 10. Bill has always been laid back and relaxed. Everyone who sees him ends up saying "I want to be Bill" because he's just so happy and relaxed all the time.

Sadie is what I call a "talker." She meows constantly. This usually means she wants me to dangle a ribbon for her to catch. This "game" could go on forever if it were up to her. She follows us around the house and the yard and she likes to sleep on our faces. She sleeps under the blankets with us every night. She has a love/hate relationship with Bill. The problem is that she wants to be the only pet. Sometimes Bill gets tired of her "attitude" and then a little spat ensues, even after ten years together.

Hi Navydad
I read your other post (somewhere but I don't remember) about y'all's new miniature Dachshund. He sounds so so so cute! So adorable------barking and singing to the fire whistle! That was a real cute story, thanks!

I would be lost without my kitties. They give me so much love and companionship.

Back when I was in my 20s (yrs ago LOL) I had a cat that was an indoor/outdoor cat.
Well he would scratch at the door when he wanted back in the house. If any of us were too slow about letting him in "especially in the winter or when it was raining" when he came in the door he said "rrrpt". I always used to say that cat was cussing at us for not letting him in quickly. :)  :D

Blue Kat

I have two cats with very different personalities.  Isabella is a fearless little diva who prefers not to be bothered until it's her decision.  Maya is a little baby who thrives on attention and is very sweet-natured.  Being cats, they're both very smart but sometimes they do the craziest things that makes me question if they're thought process.  Not a day goes by that they don't make me smile.   They're definitely little blessings in my life.   :)

We have two cats.  Casper is a five year old flame point Siamese who is the most loving cat I've ever known.  Dax is my husband's spoiled rotten three year old Maine Coon.  He is polydactyl, and has 7 toes on his right front paw and 6 on all the others.  He's the only cat I know who likes to have his belly rubbed.
Today was a beautiful sunny day here on the west coast, so I cleaned the patio door and left it open to the screen door for the boys to look out.  They were sitting side-by-side, watching and smelling, when a bird flew right past the door, very low and very fast.  Dax was so startled that he stumbled back and fell into Casper.  Casper gave him a look that said "what the ----?"  ;D Then, being a cat, Dax recovered and tried to look smooth.  I was laughing hard and asked him, "Did that big old bird scare you, baby?"
Those two are endless fun for us.
