Dry hair a SJS problem?

So does very dry hair go along with having Sjogrens?  Does anybody have a solution for this?  It's been horrible. I also have low thyroid so I've usually had dry hair but not it's so much worse. Does SJS also affect oil glands?? I am going to try some hot oil treatments.  I take vitamins and fish oil. It's not helping.

I wonder if dry hair is related to aging in general, just just Sjogren's.

Adding castor oil to my shampoo has helped my dry hair.
I also use it all over my skin and it's the best hydrator ever in my opinion.
I also wonder if the dry hair is related to SJS. Mine has always been dry.

My 12 year old daughter has recently been dx with sjs and always has very dry hair. I dont know idf its from  sjs or just being a kid in and out of pools etc. We have a hair repair mask by Swarzkoppf, you can get it from any department store in australia like big w and isnt expensive. its meant to be left on for 5 mins and washed off. However after shampooing i put it in and just leave it overnight, then wash it off and condition. After towel drying just put a little bit more in and let it dry. It seems to help and make her hair shinier, softer and easier to manage. All the best

Sorry your young daughter has SJS, Sjogrensmum. Thanks for the tip. I know that is a good brand. I like the castor oil idea too, I looked that up and it has a lot of benefits. Linda may also have a point that people's skin and hair dry out as we age. I am in my 60's now but I've always had slightly dry hair. Now, it's just also going wavy and frizzy on top of the curl.

This weekend, I put some conditioner on my hair and left it in before I washed it, then after the wash, I conditioned it and then I put some oil in it and let it dry. It helped a lot.

My hair is also very thin and dry and I think the Plaquinil has made it worse!  My hair dresser has given me some Marrocean Oil to try and so far I really like it.  I always have to wash and dry my hair almost every day or it just looks so thin and horrible. 

6 years ago my hair was doing pretty good but that was before Plaquinil and full blown Sjogren's.👎

Dry hair and thinning hair can indicate a thyroid problem.

When my thyroid is adequately medicated my hair reverts to greasy - despite SjS.
