Title: Pet Dog Show
Post by: jaygee on August 31, 2009, 12:24:39 PM
I am complete worn out  ;D   Some friends of ours were asked to host pet dog classes at a local garden party today, so we took all our three  ;D

Thought you might like to see piccies, as I know quite a few of my SJS friends on here have pets  -  here we are arriving at the garden party

My little smooth fox terrier is now 12.5 yrs old.  This was his first dog class ever, and here we are waiting to enter the mini agility.  We have never done this before, but we had a little practice before the class started  ;D

A strategically held dog biscuit guided him through the hoops and over the jumps (others cheated too  ;))    ;D ;D  We did get a clear round, but others had a lot more "style"   ;D ;D ;D

This tiny little girl, with her even tinier pup won 1st prize in "Cutest Puppy"

But my youngest pup was 4th  ;D ;D ;D   She's not very tiny or puppy-like now, but she is very cute  ;D   She loves anyone and everyone  :D

AW JG- What lovely photos!  Your doggie family did you proud.  Glad you had such a great day.  No wonder you are exhausted now though!  XX Ailsa

Looks like you had a lovely day. I bet your little friends are hard work. Do they all have similar energy levels, or are they very different?

Our old terrier is arund 14 (we think). He's my ideal dog - he only needs one lap round the field now, which is about as much as I can do. Perfect pals!

They all have different energy levels, Kathy.  The little fox terrier is Sinbad, at 12.5 yrs old - still quite perky though.  Chloe the whippet x greyhound is 10 months, and Gemma, the choc labrador cross (rescue dog) is, we think, around 2 yrs old.  We are very fortunate in that, where we live, we are surrounded by farmland.  I walk the track between the crops, daily, to get to my horses' field,  and the dogs chase each other round and round and exercise themselves.   I really wish I had some of their energy  ;D

I am too tired to ride at the moment and that makes me really sad  :'(   By the time I get in from work I've had enough.  I really hope this plaquenil will stop me feeling so worn out at the slightest thing.  Mind you, I have a huge amount of joy just looking at my horses - they are just the most beautiful creatures in the world (to me)  ;D ;D   xx

They sound like very happy little animals. I see quite a lot of horses on my way to work. In one field in particular, we saw about 7 foals a few weeks ago. We don't live in the country as such, but have a farm at the end of our lane. It's a farm full of rescue animals, and the old chap who runs it loves them dearly. They had a couple of new foals a few weeks ago as well. My little grandson loves them. Whenever he comes we have to go feed the horsey, and baby goats and the rescue chickens, who still have few feathers. He was delighted when the farmer gave him a newly laid egg, and took great delight in telling his mum that it came from the chicken's tummy.

I hope you will feel well enough to ride again soon. Would love to see pictures of your horses.

Wow Jaygee!

How you manage to look after 3 dogs and your horses is a complete mystery to me.  :o  You're amazing! I used to have 2 cats who were pretty self sufficient and I found them and 4 kids plenty!!

I like the photos of your dogs and your horses. You may well feel fatigued but I swear you have more energy than me!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Oh Jaygee, I know you are going to think "Yeah sure she did) but she did.  After my daughter was married she hurt very severely while training a pair of clydesdales.  Her husband said "that's it, you are going to find something less lethal as a hobby".

She then decided to go with her all time love, dogs!  She started breeding, showing and training Australian Shepherds.  So it was time for Mom to be recruited again.  Off we went up and down the east coast and mid west with the dogs.  She even made it to Westminister with her top "bitch".  I have to admit, dogs are lot easier to handle and they sure listen better than horse'es.  ;D  But I loved both.

I love your little dogs and they look like they had as much fun as the humans. :D

Take care dear, and keep fighting that fatigue.  You can do it.

Hugs, Pooh

Glad you liked the pics.  :D

You know I think everyone should own a pet at some time in their life.  They give you so much back, don't they?

Sometimes, I really don't know how I cope with 2 horses and 3 dogs (and a husband and full time job), but I couldn't bear the thought of parting with any of them, including the husband  ;D ;D ;D   Mind you, my house isn't as tidy as it used to be  ::) ::)

Sometimes I worry that I may not be able to cope, but my husband helps where he can, and I am looking forward to having at least a couple of rides out next weekend - it was my childhood dream to own a horse, but I had to wait until I saved up in my adult life.  I still have to pinch myself that my dreams came true! My husband always says, funny - the harder you work, the luckier you get  ::)

I shall hope for good weather to ride out next weekend.  ;D    xx

Wow, great pictures!  That looks like so much fun!!!!

Well, like some of the others, I have an overgrown fur ball, and I've not been able to train him, but he's pretty much trained me! ;) :D

GO FOR IT JAYGEE!!

I hope the weather is beautiful for you and your body is giving you a day of great riding.

And yes, everyone should have at least one pet in their lifetime, but it's a toss up at times of "who owns who?" ;D

I think my two have me more than I have them.  I know they are smarter. :D
