Hi :)
Tomorrow is going to be a looong day. I sing with a group of women and this group has got involved in a big project called Sing for Water. It is a festival that started in London and I believe has happened for several years. This year - they have set it up in Tyneside as well. Lots of choirs have been given a song book with specially written songs in it. We've all been learning the same songs and have also been given a practice CD to listen to. The idea of the project is to raise money for Wateraid, to provide clean drinking water to various third world countries.
The day starts at 9a.m. tomorrow with registration and then a rehearsal. There is a performance at 2p.m. (outside. We're singing for water but really hope it doesn't rain!!) The choirs in London will be singing the same songs at the same time. We've been raising money via the justgiving.com website.
I don't know how long I'll be able to carry on singing. I've noticed my voice getting hoarser over the past few months. I'll carry on while i can though!
Busy week altogether. daughter's graduation, which went well, rehearsal today and then the big sing tomorrow. Thank goodness it's the end of term so I can sleep Monday away!!
Take care - Scottie :)
Oh Scottie...you and your singing group do sound like you have such a good time and singing for a cause...what could be better than that?
Good luck and have a great time tomorrow...I hope the rain holds off until the singing is done..then it can rain all day Monday while you rest!
Let us know how it goes, ok?
Good luck Scottie, and I truly pray it doesn't rain. Have you tried a moisturizing mouth spray for the hoarsness?
I hope the project gathers lots of loot and it's a big success. I know you will be tired, but you always have such fun with that group. Enjoy the weekend, then rest all day Monday. I hope that does it. ;D

Hey Scottie,
I never heard an update about how this concert went...if I overlooked it....I'm sorry!
Just wondering if the rain held off for your singing performance and if you all raised some good money for this wonderful project.
Lynnmarie's has a point, have you updated, and we missed it? Did you have a ton of fun? Did you wow them with your lovely voice?

Hi :)
No - I didn't update. It was a really good day. It was tiring because the morning rehearsal was outside and took longer than the actual performance - which was also outside. It was amazing singing with that many people. There must have been at least 200 of us if not more. Apparently it sounded good.
Singing outside - the sound kinda goes away from you. There were, however, microphones and speakers set up in the front. They were mainly for soloists but set in such a way that they caught the massed voices as well and carried them forwards.
I had sunblock, a hat and water. The weather was kind to us. I would have liked to have stayed for other acts that were on afterwards but I really was too tired. If I get the opportunity to do it again, I will though.
A project is coming up in the autumn and I just hope I can be part of it. I'm finding I get hoarse now and again. That didn't used to happen. Fingers crossed I'll be OK. Actually - if necesary - I'll mime! Its cheating - but I don't care!
Thanks for the interest. Take care - Scottie :)
glad it went well scottie!!
hope you got alot of sponsor money was a really good cause

Hi McT :)
The group as a whole made quite a lot. I managed to raise what I'd aimed for which ws ?50. Well got a bit more. Very grateful to contributors! :)
Take care - Scottie :)
Glad to hear you had a good time. ;D I know how much you love singing with your own group, this must have been fantastic.
I am sorry though, that you tired out so much. :-\ It seemed a shame not to see the rest of the show. Well, there is always next year. ;) Good job with raising your part of the money.
