I switch from a epo insurance to a hmo insurance :( I had been taking 3 cymbalta a day for pain my new insurance denied my refill and required an auth from my Dr. instead of approving the auth my dr. had the pharmacy give me once a day efexor. It is nice to only take one pill instead of three but I wanted see if anyone else have had pain relief on efexor.
Effexor is given (and taken for so many things!) I was put on Effexor two years ago after I had b. cancer and had to go off my HRT cold turkey. They give women Effexor to reduce some of the side effects of menopause when you can't take the hormones. It helped with my menopausal stuff, but I also take a load of stuff for pain. I'd say try it and see.

Hey Lucy,
They gave you Effexor to reduce some of the side effects of menopause? Wow, I wish I would have gotten that instead of having to go cold turkey through the whole process - that was miserable and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Patze, I did actually go cold turkey off my HRT while undergoing cancer treatment too. I didn't know if i was coming or going. Didn't care either. Sometime down the line--not too long--I heard somewhere that Effexor was given for HRT withdrawal (or menopausal symptoms) and sure enough my doc prescribed it. I'm still on it two years later and am afraid to mess with any of my meds, but I just keep adding on to them. Lucy
Hi Lucy,
I'm sorry that you had to go through menopause while undergoing chemo, wow, that must have been the absolute worst! Ah, as usual, open mouth, insert foot or two, as I seem to do that so well. ;) :D
