Does anybody have a remedy to get suntan lotion out of clothes? I just washed a load of whites and as I was taking them out of the dryer noticed this "brownish" stain around the neck of my sons shirts and I know it's from the suntan lotion he put on. Now that the shirt is dry and the stain probably "set" . . . is there anyway to get it out? I don't really use "bleach", is there something else I can use?

When I was watching my gr. grandson, I use to use Oxi-clean on his shirts and bibs. You might try that. It seems to get out anything and everything. You know how hard baby food stains and formula are to get out, and this worked like a charm.

Yep, I'm with Pooh, I also use Oxi-clean type cleaners when needed.

I was sitting here with my daughter, who is guru at making her own detergent. Her base ingredient is bar soap called fels naptha. She says you can find it at small grocery stores and some pharmacies. She orders hers whole sale over the internet. She says you can find on ebay or amazon.com. They use the bar for the worst stains and it removes great.

I for one, will always remember Billy Mays and all his Oxi-Clean commercials . . no one will be able to replace him promoting this product!! I've never used Oxi-Clean, but will look at it the next trip to the store.
Kimbo, I think I've heard my late MIL talk about that fels naptha soap. I'll have to see if I can find that too.

Have you tried vinegar. It works great to help whiten clothes.
Oxi-clean works great. I buy the spray bottle. It dissolves the protein in the stains and they come out good.
Also, I hate to date myself, but my mother used to buy Fels Naptha bar soap and cut off thin slices with a sharp knife to use in the washing machine. The old fashioned washing machine that had the wringer and you rinsed your clothes in the big wash tubs of cold water. I also used the soap when first married. Kept a bar in a dish by the washing machine and would wet the article of clothing and rub the spot with the bar soap. It worked well also. It has a very distinctive smell that I can still smell in my head as I sit here thinking about it. I did not know it was still being made. Irish ;D
Yep, good ole Fels Naptha. I used it on stained diapers and bibs. I had completely forgotten about it, but you can find it in WalMart or K-Mart or any small town grocery store. It's the best thing for poison ivy or poison oak too. It's the only thing that will take off the oil when you have come into contact with it. If it's after the fact and the blisters have formed, make a paste of the Fels Naptha and coat the blisters and let it dry.
When I was growing up, it was used for everything but eating. ;D
I just said something to my hubby about it and he said we still have a bar under the kitchen sink for emergencies. There is a lot of poison stuff around here. Now that he reminded me, I know exactly where it is. :D Ain't "Brain Fog" wonderful.......................not! ;)
