Post by: watoozie on July 03, 2009, 07:27:04 PM
I posted awhile back that I never get colds - - - well, I got a doozy!!  Started out like any cold and ended up at the docs with a severe sinus infection.  I feel terrible and my face is throbbing so bad!!

Try putting some Vicks on the soles of your feet.

Hi watoozie,

I'm sorry to hear about your "cold"!  Summer colds are the worst!  I sure hope that it goes the way of the dinosaurs really soon for you.

Hang in there, and take care of yourself -

Hi watoozie  :)

really sorry to hear you got zapped by a cold and sinus infection. I'm another one that's tempted fate although I know I'm bound to get caught out sometimes. Here in the UK they reckon 100.000 cases a day of swine flu will happen - so I'll see whether I escape that or not!

Hope you feel loads better soon.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Watoozie,

So sorry to hear you got so sick. I also just got over a terrible cold.  Using ocean spray twice a day kept it from turning into a sinus infection. It may help get you over yours quicker!

Get well soon!!

Love, Missy

Thank you all very much for your get well wishes.  My headache is finally letting up and I think the amoxicillan is kicking in, maybe tomorrow I will feel like getting off the couch.  Oh and by the way, I do the Vicks on the feet, my husband swears by it, but it didn't do anything for me this time.  Maybe I should have started it the first day of the sniffles.

Try Quaninfensin which is an expectorant. Here in Us I can purchase it OTC in 200 mg. tablets. Drs. usually prescribe it in higher mgs. Also, it is found in OTC Mucinex brandname though it  contains more than the G stuff. Have found with the many years I have had SS which is a moisture issue in itself, taking 200 mg. twice a day helps cut the thick mucus. Have been told by specialist that ones brain is smart enough to know you are not secreting adequate moisture, therefore, it dumps you with thick mucus. ENT doc suggested several years ago that I spray only one nostril at a time with Neosynphirine or Afrin (OTCF stuff) to open nostril and most of the time both nostrils respond. Caution: these sprays can become addictive if used over long period of time----get rebound effect---swelling.Have not had a sinus infection or cold in years- , knock on wood- since I have become focused on (1) spray nose; (2) take guanifensin, ask your doc or pharmacist how much they suggest, or do your homework by reading about it on the internet; (3) run a room humidifier for 24/7 and have found Wal-mart has gallon size (suggest you don't get one too heavy to easily carry when filled with water) along with thermometer w/ both humidity and temperature (cost less that $10 at Walmart). This has ensured me many nights of good rest as when in my 30's had numerous bouts with sinus, colds, and even pneumonia and pleurisy for number of years until started sleeping in another room from hubby when sick. And, now in my late 60's, our small retirement home we built includes my 'end' and 'his end' of home w/kitchen and great room in the middle. Serves it purpose superbly... !!!! Trust this lengthy note in some way can help you on your road to better understanding SS and how to 'outwit' it!!! Hang on there; we're all in this together and as a newbie to Sjogren's World, I already have a sense of relief that there are others that understand. EnJOY your Sunday and get some rest.

Still patiently waiting for someone to email me with directions as how to make font size larger.  Do not know the correct keystrokes/command to make it larger. AGAIN, PLEASE HELP...THESE OLE' EYES GET TIRED FAST!!!  And, as one can see I'm wordy...

Joy, there are a few ways to increase font size dependant on your operating system. In most windows versions, there is a tab at the top called "page" that contains a "zoom" command which will increase the size of everything. There is also a command for "font size" which will make just the font larger. If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can hold CTRL and adjust the wheel to increase or decrease size as well. I'm afraid if you use a Mac, I can't help because I'm not familiar with that system.

To change only the font in your message, you use the font size button in the row of commands above the dialogue window (the A with the double ended vertical arrow) which gives you a command like this:   , but with no space and a flashing cursor between the center ][. You then change the point size from 10 pt to a higher number , usually even numbers, then type where the cursor is.

Linda, alkj;lkjkl;lkLinda, a great big thank you.   Am most interested in enlarging the font on emails like this one I am ipoi[poi[poi[poi[poi[poi[pok;l;l trying to write you. Yes, am using Windows version[size=10pt[14Hello lkj;lkj;lkj;lkj;lkj/size]

Linda, have mouse with wheel plus Windows version. Can see the up and down arrow alongside the capital A BUT cannot get it to 'kick up' font UNLESS it does it when email is sent. Have now figured out it will change color when actually email is sent BUT I need larger font (say 14) while I am composing my email. As sure you can sense, both my eyes have already 'done double duty' in this life!!! Enough said... what stupid or is it simple thing-ie am I not doing????? Joy becomes a PAIN!!!! Have learned with all this SS 'stuff' through the years to be persistent.  Understand my AOL and love it though also know in time will learn the linguistics of how to use all these icons at the top of this page.  Oh well, enough said, thanks for reading this and any help will IMMENSELY be appreciated...Joy can be joyful with a little more help with font size!!

Got color thing-ie figured out.

NOW, next challenge
Linda, my hero. When went to preview, find font size is larger though is there way you can help me be able to increasee font size while composing/replying to an email as am doing now???

Joy

I have an icon at the very bottom right hand corner of my screen. It shows a plus sign in a magnifying glass. When I click on this it enlarges the print to 125% - 400%. I find the 125% just right.

Hope you get sorted.
