Yesterday I had the pleasure of having my second kidney stent placement and just like my back surgery it was unsuccessful. I can only imagine the look on my face when my wife picked me up from the recovery room and told me that another surgery would be required.
Apparently the ureter is now completely blocked and now they will have to go through the kidney to open the passage to the bladder. Wow, bladder cancer, the gift that keeps on giving, just like SS.
Geesh Epson, you are sure "lucky"!....................................NOT! Good grief man I sure hope things begin to improve for you REAL soon.
I seem to have the same luck you have lately, but won't go into it right now. Take care and for heaven's sake..................DUCK!!! the next time something comes at you.
Pooh
Geez Epson,
Too bad you can't return this really bad "gift" you've been given, kind of like the lousy tie some Dad's get on Father's Day. The only good thing about another surgery is the really good sleep you get from general anesthesia. And even that's not worth the rest of what you're going through.
I honestly don't know what to say other than that you're always in my prayers.
hang in there,
Tracy
Shoot Epson - that stinks!
Sincerely hope it's a case of third time lucky.
Take care - Scottie :)
Epson
I'm so sorry to hear about the stent. All I can add is that you are in my thoughts and prayers,
Kathyx
Epson,
I am so sorry for all you are going through. You have a full time job keeping up with surgeries and doctor appointments. Sure hope it starts looking up for you real soon.
Anna
Woohoo, I go back in the hospital on Friday, this time we are going to put the stent in by cutting a whole in my back and shoving a wire through my kidney, down the ureter and into the bladder, without general anesthesia. This should be fun, I'll keep you guys poster with all the gory details. At least they won't be putting the cheese grater back into Mr. Willie.
Ouch! Epsom,
they are certainly giving you a run for your money!
Let us pray, that they will hit the spot this time. without the cheese grater !!
Mr Willie must be so pleased that its not his end this time!..
Chin up lad, Dolly x
OMG Epson, if it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. ::) God speed Ep, know you will be in my thoughts and prayers come Friday.
What time are you going in? Early I hope, at least you won't have to think about it half the day that way.
God Bless, Pooh
Ooo, Epson, it all sounds so horrible! Makes me hurt to read! I wish you the best!
Epson, Cancer sure does pull out all the stops for weird circumstances doesn't it. I sure hope this can be done fast so that you will not be too miserable. Now, I will be waiting to hear just how miserable that will be.
I truly am sorry to hear that this darn cancer is crawling around. Have they done the hormone therapy yet?? I have lost track of just what type of treatment you have done. Will keep you in my prayers and hope the stent gets put in this time. Irish ;D
Hi Epson,
Wow, what is up with your doctors? Another surgery and with out general anesthesia? My head is realling from the thought, and I don't know how you're dealing with all of this mess.
Good luck my friend, and please keep us updated, okay?
Take care of yourself -
Patze
Epson, i am so sorry to hear this news ??? I pray everything goes well and that it doesn't hurt so much :o. Please let us know how your doing dear :). We are all concerned for you. Take care!
Thanks to all for your concern. From what I have read about the procedure it sounds like pain for a couple of weeks after the procedure. I sure hope this works, other wise they will have to move the ureter to a new location on the bladder, the problem with this is if there is a cancer cell in the bladder an it were to get out, cancer could spread every place in the body.
I have this image of the doctor piercing the kidney and all that back up pee hits him in the face like a fire hose, knocking him to the floor, while this forceful stream is waving all over the operating room. :D
Hold that thought! It could see you through! ;D
Wishing you all the best for Friday - you are so brave x
Oh Epson...when do you think you are going to get a break??? Soon I hope!
I just want to wish you good luck tomorrow....we will all be thinking of you....hopefully we wont be thinking of the picture you just created for us regarding the fire hose that let loose! ;)
Well, I went to the hospital today for my stent, guess what? Couldn't get the stent in, so now I have a pee bag coming from my right kidney and have to go back in 2 or 3 weeks to see if they can get the stent in after the pressure and welling goes down. The drug they give you to relax you didn't do s**t and not even a buzz, they seem to forget that a bigger guy needs more happy juice. I think the Marquis Desade thinks up these procedures.
Epson
Good point Epson! Please do ask for extra happy juice! And don't forget to ask for a traveler too! ;D
Patze
Epson, Oh, shoot. What a bummer!! Sorry to hear that they didn't get the darn thing in. The good thing is that they had plan B so at least the urine had an escape route. Hope the swelling goes down soon and you can get this over with.
Maybe they will give you more happy juice with a chaser!!! Good luck. Irish ;D
Hey Epson
Sorry to come to this thread late. This is just awful ... and not enough happy juice either? Who are these charlatans? It's about time doctors realised that it's their happy juice we're after, and loads of it.
I hope the weeks with the pee bag aren't too dreadful. Come visit lots and moan about how awful it is. We want to know, details and all!
Thinking of you - Chickpea
Epson
You poor thing! Wish I could give you a big sisterly hug - you certainly deserve one after all you've been through.

Epson,
I am still cringing from reading your thread. Are you sure you aren't at Guantanamo?
You really deserve a break! I'll pray that the swelling resolves and your next attempt will be successful.
Cheryl
I never realize how much blood I would be loosing through my kidney, my pee bag looks like blood transfusion bag, no exaggeration. In fact it stopped flowing a couple of time and had to increase the already copious amount of water I was drinking.
Other then to obvious pain and discomfort, thing are going pretty well. The bag is a pain to drag around, but it's only for 2 or 3 weeks, better then a life time.
Hi Epson
I hope things go better for you. It's ridiculous in this day and age that they can't get pain under control better - especially when doing controlled procedures.
Take care - Scottie :)
