Title: Water
Post by: susanep on June 09, 2009, 01:17:35 AM
Hello Everyone , I haven't posted in awhile. Now out for the summer from school. I have just been dealing with a lot , and struggling with my pain, and fatigue. I was wondering if any of you that drink a lot more water have noticed it helping you to have more energy than when you drink other things, or little water? I had been reading about what all takes place in our cells, and this got me to wondering.

Also welcome to all the new ones. God Bless all of you.

susan

i drink 2-3 litres of spring / filtered water a day, im killing candida so i need to flush toxins out, since i did that and went on canddia diet, i can say i have that much fatigue, and sleep deeply overnight, wake up at 7 30 am, and go to bed at 11 30 with no napping !!  No brain fog, no pain and mouth and eyes better, fibromyaliga gone and touching something cold no longer affects me, its wonderful, but yes alot of sacrifice and self discipline, if the only change you make is wtaer, and come off fizzy drinks, you ll improve health, there are a few books on your body just wants water, and its intresting reading, though i do drink herbal teas as well

Hi, I can tell you from experience that drinking water is important,  I landed in the emergency room this past weekend all dehydrated and in severve pain,  I have kidney stones and one of the major causes is that I dont drink enough water.  I had to have a iv with fluids and am suppose to drink 8 to 10 glassess of water a day.  Both kidneys are filled with stones.  My problem is that drinking that much water makes me feel bloated but I have to do it.

Hi Susan, I don't find drinking a lot of water/tea/soda helping all that much anymore.  It seemed to at first, but I guess my body has gotten used to it so I don't expell nearly as much as before (that and it's getting warmer here, so I'm retaining a lot more).  Eh, what is a girl to do?

Hi Jonnell, I sure hope that you feel better soon!  Hang in there lady!

Take care -

I drink a lot of water and find that it is not as helpful as bourbon or vodka in relieving the pain, well it doesn't actually help the pain, I just don't care about the pain, or anything else.

Does burborn or vodka work for Kidney Stones?  Chin up Epson, you still have that sense of humor, I needed you this weekend when I was in the er in so much pain.  Hugs and Kissess   Jonnell and Jenna

Since being on Evoxac, I don't drink copiuos amounts of water anymore.  I still drink plenty, though.  It has always been easy for me to chug liquids due to being parched.  A nice Maker's Mark with ginger ale is especially easy to chug!

A bit long responding. Thanks everyone for your replies. :) I had to go to a in service the other day. I have to go to 6 this summer to add up points, to get my teaching license renewed for ten more years. I am sure I wont be working that long , but need to as long as I can handle it.

I am sure I don't drink enough water , but I am trying to. I feel like my  energy keeps going down. I keep getting sinus infections over and over just from dryness. That is really going against my trying to lose any weight. With a low thyroid I need to exercise to lose weight, but cant. Oh well, I guess it will all work out in the end one way or another.

Take Care Everyone,
susanep :)

I've been drinking Gatorade lately.  It is easier to get down and gives me some calories and electrolytes so it helps with dehydration.  Water tends to make me nauseated for some reason.  I wanted to reply to the kidney stone question about vodka or bourbon.  I didn't want to mention it but this  is really how I deal with kidney stones, tequila...and water.

Drinking a lot of water is certainly good, but they have since found out that the "8 glass a day" rule is not quite true. We DO need that  much liquid, but a lot of it comes from our food, especially fruits and veggies. When they calculated the liquid needed for daily maintenance of our bodies, no one counted food's water content. No one should feel guilty over not downing 8 full glasses of water.

Teas, soups, milk, watermelon, apples, bananas, grapes, etc. all count toward out daily requirement of liquid. Of course, there is no health danger from drinking the 8 glasses if you do so, like it and fee well doing so.

Personally, I also feel bad drinking in a lot of water, but I do drink lightly flavored nocal/low-cal water. Also dilute teas and I LOVE watery fruits like watermelon!
The goal is to keep hydrated, and not from soda or sugary drinks.

Many Sjogren's patients get dry mouth and/or throat, and I am one, so I always have some kind of drink at arm's length!
