Yay!!!
I can't wait, they have been ordered, so they'll give me a ring when they arrive...
So... does it hurt??!! :o
I've had 2 sets put in, one set of temporary ones and then permanent ones. It doesn't hurt, but it will be uncomfortable until they are completely in. The most I felt was like a pinch. I would do it again in a heartbeat. ;D They have been a great help.
Pooh
Good luck with the plugs. Remember, you may or may not feel relief right away. If not, be patient for it can take a couple of weeks to settle in. Most people do have some relief from plugs. ;D Lucy
ok. what does one do to get these plugs? I spoke to my eye dr today and told her my eyelids are sticking to my eyeballs, and she said to try a differnt otc eye drop and stop sleeping with the ceiling fan on (uhhh, we are both in Arizona? Not sleeping with a fan on is not possible here!) And she said she didn't know of *anything* else I could Do????? No restasis, no plugs, no nothing did she say!
Does this seem a little odd? I am dissapaointed i thought she was very sharp...
I'd think maybe the dr does not like to *do plugs* and start making some calls from the phone book asking dr offices if they handle dry eye care and do plugs. Some docs just don't want to mess with them--but you'd think she/he would refer you to someone who did plugs. Persevere.
*Also, there is a mask you can wear at night which is helpful with dry eyes. Especially if you need the overhead fan. You can find this at eyeeco.com (http://eyeeco.com). I have used this mask for a couple of years and love it. It's worth the money to me. I have no other interest in this website or product. Lucy
Hi Guys,
Thank you for the reassurance, to be honest tho I would have gone for it even if you had said it hurt like heck!! Can't wait for some relief, just hope it works!
MISSYB: I wasn't offered them initially either, just told to do drops, I put up with it for a month or so, also still tearing, and then went back to tell him I wanted plugs. Sometimes you've just got to throw your toys out of your cot... ;D
Take Care,

Hi lelole, I'm with you on the plugs! I get mine on Monday. I've not really gotten used to the temp ones (lower set only, will see if I will need a set for the uppers down the road), I always feel them, weird, huh (always have to be a bit different! ;) :D)? I know that most folks who get them, have very little to no problems what so ever with the insertion and the continual wear of them.
Hi missyb, what the heck? She won't have them prescribed for you or at least refer you to another doctor who will have them put in for you? What's up with that? Like Lucy said, can you start looking for another eye doctor soon? The one you currently have is not so good.
You're eyes are too important not to get the best eye doctor that you can and see if you're a good candidate for the plugs. And Lucy's also has another good point, the eye mask is supposed to be really good for you too. I've heard from some members that they love theirs, shoot, as soon as I can afford them, I'll have to get a pair too.
Hang in there and please keep us updated!
Take care -
Patze
I tried the temporary plugs first, then had the permanent plugs put in. That was two years ago. Would do it again, it helped keep my tears in. I have lower ones only. It didn't hurt at all and couldn't feel them after they were in. Hope you have good luck with yours.
Lelole,
Good luck with your eye plugs! I had some temporary ones put in and it didn't hurt at all...and I couldn't feel them after they were in..although I could see them if you looked real close in the mirror.....pretty cool I thought. I know I'm a little weird..... :D!
The important thing is to get a proper fit as they come in different sizes....I never in my life thought I would need to get a size for my holes in my eyes!!! :o
It only takes a few minutes to put the plugs in. When my doc puts them in he uses numbing drops. If you are worried about pain, make sure to mention the numbing drops. Also, remember plugs can fall out.
Hi guys,
He said that they were permanent but removable plugs - as these are my 1st set - I am not sure if these are the temp ones or the others?
Top be honest I just want to give it a go, have had a rubbish weekend with my eyes, pulled my cornea again with my eyelids on Saturday, and ended up having a contact lens bandage yesterday, and have been very very sore for 3 days. Eye is finally settling down now, but would love to not have to go through this agin for a while!

When they plugged all four of my ducts, my eyes were driving me nuts..like this hot-sticky fluid coming out all the time..i also kept getting infections and my doc
said that is common when you plug all four of the ducts..so, i left the 2 lower ones in and it was much better...just an FYI
Hi Gurs, sounds awful - won't be in a hurry to have all four done!
I now have my date to get my lower ones done - Thurs 18th - next week!!! Can't wait... :o

Plugs are the best!! I had the temporary ones and knew the minute they disolved. Now I have the permanent ones and feel so much better.
I'm still waiting for my plugs. Long story, but I'm starting to get frustrated with this practice (very large, but can't seem to order my "size" - got all the other sizes though ::)). Getting a bit frustrated with this whole procedure.

They come in sizes ???
The last set I had put in were like hair brush bristles, and were frozen. They were steaming in the room temperature of the office! Apparently they expand to fit, on body temperature :D
I didn't know there were permanent, removeable, ones, and I have had some difficult with mine which I won't bore you with, but given the option would go for permanent but removable ones.
Good luck with your plugs ladies!! hope it works well for you! xx
