Title: Plaquinil-increase appetite
Post by: jonnell on May 18, 2009, 10:39:22 AM
Does anyone find that they eat more while taking plaquinil.  Jenna almost ate me out of house and home this weekend.  They only thing I can think it would be is the plaquinil.   Hugs and Kissess    Jonnell and Jenna

When I first started Plaquenil I actually lost a bit of my appetite due to the nausea.  Found that I was only eating cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  That was in the beginning though.  Is she taking Prednisone too?  Now that gives me an appetite, I have to watch myself.  ;D

Hi Jonnell  :)

Maybe she's feeling a wee bit better?   Steroids give people 'the munchies' but Plaquenil is not a steroid so I dion't think an increase in appetite can be put down to Plaq.

Take care - Scottie  :)

No, Plaquenil made me queasy at first.  No increase in appetite.  Is she on steroids or Lyrica?  Or maybe Scottie's right and she's just feeling better.

I under eat...kind of have to force myself...do i loose weight.....no...lol..crazy

guess my body is thinking I'm starving it and saving for the future...but I'm not

on any meds for my SJS symptoms..i just take my BP and Thyroid meds with

occasional Ibu....Now i can comment on the itching....i do the same and not

being on any meds i think it may have to do with the nerve endings....it is really disturbing

at night...feels like ants crawling on me and you cant scratch hard enough or deep

enough to make it stop. Finally started taking my finger tips and slowly/lightly going

over the area that itches..and it helps...well it really helps me to not dig holes in

my skin. My daughter Nay use to call it a tickle rub and always wanted me to do that

for her...I guess maybe she was having the same problem as me. You can try and see

if that will help, Nay would fall asleep...you cant fall asleep if your having to do it to

yourself though....lol

JJ  thank you she always says there r bugs crawling on her I look but nothing is there.  At least I know shes not going crazy lol  I know I am. I try to explain to her what is going on but she doesnt really understand.  Now the kids in school are teasing her because of her weight and her missing all her front teeth(she lost them all at 3 due to the dry mouth)  She also looks like a chipmunk with the swollen paratoid glands do u know if they go down with taking the plaquinil?   Hugs and Kissess   Jonnell and Jenna

Jonnell

Likely she is comming up on a growth spurt, my two boys go through phases of not eating that much , to eating me yup out of house and home, always ive found with them at spring and autum, you always know with them, eating alot, testosterone surges and they bicker and fight alot, next thing theyre out of their clothes, needing new ones and their appetite settles down..

hate to say it again but yeast overgrowth can cause the crawling bug skin, i had that until recently , now its disappeared, horrible feeling that yup you could claw your skin and it doesnt help, but the appetite im thinking is just being a growing girl :)
