Today was a nice day here in Central Illinois...so we spent the day outside getting the yard cleaned up (my new central A/C is getting put in tomorrow...yeahhhhhh), mowing, weeding, planting...etc etc. The yard looks nice...but I was so tired and so sore and just when we were finishing up and I was going to empty out a water bottle in the grass...I fell down!
I thought I was on the last CONCRETE step but I wasn't. But I didn't just fall....I tried to catch myself...did a lovely little dance and then fell so hard! I hurt my right arm, my left elbow and knee, my side and back.....what a mess! I came in and iced my "war wounds", cleaned up my bloody fingers and then took a shower. As I am sitting her..I'm getting stiffer and stiffer and stiffer! Oh my gosh....what a klutz!
I'm supposed to go in to work tomorrow bright and early...lets hope I can walk! lol (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-sick024.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org)
Just venting so someone will feel sorry for me.....does anyone feel sorry for me??? (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing002.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org) Just kidding.....
I do sympathize Lynne, sometimes my legs do funny things like that, or is it my head?
Be careful next time you clean the yard... Hugs Dolly.
Oh Lynn sweetie
These things happen so fast and the effects are much longer lasting. You poor thing! You're not a klutz - you're a Sjoggie and we have bodies that don't always do what we expect them to do.
Please, please take good care of yourself. You'll need time to recover from the shock as well as the actual injuries. Are you sure you don't need an x-ray?
I'm sure others will have lots of ideas but for now I'd say try cold/hot/cold with 5 minutes of each. I find frozen peas are best for the cold, with the bag wrapped in a cloth. Then a microwaved wheat bag or hot water bottle, then back to the peas. A soak in a warm bath/tub or just lots of showers should help with the stiffness too. Can you take anti-inflammatories? Lavender oil in a burner or just in a bowl of steaming water to inhale is very good for shock and bruising.
Hope you get a good night's sleep. Maybe rethink work tomorrow?

Do hope you feel better, Lynnmarie. Also, you will enjoy the new A/C in the months to come (if summer ever arrives.)
Lucy
Poor Lynn . . . . if you wanted to dance to celebrate the sunshine and NO rain today, I can understand that. ;D However, landing on hard concrete is not the way to do it. :( I can feel your pain . . . I've done that before too.
Even though I'm sure you DON'T feel like doing this, if you keep moving and don't just sit in the recliner or couch all evening will help. They always say ice for the first 24 hrs. helps.
I hope you have a speedy recovery. Take it easy girl!!!
Enjoy your new A/C . . . . ;D
Bucky
Awwww Lynn, I do so feel sorry for you. I have had days like that. I accomplished alot, was proud of what I had done and just as I was finishing, bam. I found it to be so discouraging, then, of course, there was the pain, stiffness and wondering how bad it would feel tomorrow. But, the discouragement eased and that gave me the courage to do it again, lol. In the meantime, it sure is nice to get some sympathy for our "I fall down" wounds.
Please rest, soak in the tub with lot of bubbles and maybe a book and some nice smelly candles. Lay back and watch some tv or read. Just baby yourself, but make sure you move around or the stiffness could get worse. Wow, mowing, planting, and weeding all in one day is alot even for a healthy person. You deserve a medal.
I'll be thinking of you.

perhaps some arnica and some motrin? I think Arnica is da bomb :) esp when I don something stupid and get banged up - it seems to help me heal faster - or at least it makes me think I do. sounds painful hope you feel better :) Motrin might help you move a little free-er through out your day tomorrow (if you are OK to take these things of course)
Lyn, I hope you feel better, I do feel sorry for you. I fall all the time and I dont have SJS just dont watch were Im going. Last week I took a class trip with Jenna. My fiance went with me. We were walking with the class and teachers and I caught my foot on a tree root and went down hard on the ashphalt I was so embarrassed all these little 4 year old were looking at me asking if I was alright, Jenna just stood there like yup thats my mom always falling lol. Then later that day I came home and fell down the front steps lol. Hugs and Kissess Jonnell and Jenna
hi lyn
hope your feelin better - you must be feeling shattered, and then with the fall - it tends to shake us up abit so please pamper yourself and take it easy.
I fell in the coridor at work, ended up with whiplash type injuries, i thought i had saved my self pretty well, but the next day - boy did i know it, was off work for a while.
Look afteryourself

Lynn,
I hope you are feeling better today.
Hi all!
Thanks for the well wishes and the "sympathy" I needed.. ;)!
I did take off work today and I did call the doctor just to make sure my arm was ok since I still cant move it that well yet....the rest of my body is sore but will heal with some time...but my arm concerned me! My doc checked me out thoroughly as he was concerned that I had torn or injured the rotor cuff. The injury is in my shoulder but not as serious as he had first thought....nothings broken and he believes nothings torn! Thanks goodness!
I have to move it within reason and ice, ice, ice it. If its not better in a few days we might do a steroid injection. I already had a sore and weak right arm before the fall...but after that little dance I did it just made it worse I think....so we will see!
Thanks all....(http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-hug008.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org)
Lynmarie,
Glad to hear nothing is torn or broken. Even though you may feel all broken. I hope you mend fast.
Glad you had a good productive day.
blessings kimbo
Hi Lynnmarie-
I'm glad nothing is broken, but that doesn't mean you still shouldn't take it easy!
I think being a klutz is part of the whole Sjogren's thing. I never used to fall the way I do these days. And it seems to take forever to heal afterwards. Of course in my case, it could be age, too.
Take care of yourself and feel better,
Tracy
Lynnmarie, I just had a cortisone shot in the shoulder this morning. I've had them just about in all my joints, but probably not the shoulder. I was all in a tizzy and made my hubby come in the room with me and when the doc put the shot in, I had a headlock on my husband. It's a wonder I didn't make him pass out. The shot was a piece of cake and I didn't even utter an ouch. ;D ;D Lucy
Lynne
so sorry you are in pain from this fall.
On the one bright side i think were all clumbsy, i know i am.
For the bruising id recommend arnica cream, get it here in any chemist now, dont know about the US, but its as effective as ibuprofen gel for pain, and it heals bruising at a very fast rate

Hi Lynn,
I'm sorry to hear that you've joined the "last step dance", that's a miserable club to be sure! ;) I did that going up a staircase and wound up with a very painful leg (lot's of missing skin), and some extra bruises for my efforts. The neighbors must have thought I was nuts as I sat there laughing.
I'm glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better and I'll keep the old digits crossed that your right arm gets better soon.
Hang in there and take it easy lady -
Patze
Yep, made my fifth plummet down the stairs...you can get into Guinness book if you
climb to a certain height.....why not falling often...let the competition begin...lol
JJ
Sorry to hear about your fall and I hope you're feeling better.
I do stuff like that all the time! Usually I come home from work with new bruises and no idea how I did it. Always running into the corners of tables counters etc. People try to tell me to slow down but I don't think that's the problem. Just always thought I was a clutz...LOL
DWW
Lynn . . . how's our very own "Dancing With the Pavement" forum moderator??
